Weather compensation what does it do?

If you leave the heating on all the time so the building fabric is maintained at that temperature aswell. Works better in some of the colder European countries as they have colder winters, better insulated homes, and have the heating on 24 hours a day. Uk housing stock is very poorly insulated...

    Underground condensate pipe

In cold weather, when on central heating or hot water, condensing boilers can produce up to 1 litre an hour condensate which is acidic and needs to be disposed of. If no drain nearby, then a soakaway full of limestone chippings. They should be checked and replenished yearly. They eventually go...

Not enough heat on central heating

Boiler on ground floor and radiators on 3rd floor struggling. Sounds like too much "head" to overcome. Boiler would have been better sited on 1st or 2nd floor. Is the ch flow and return in 22mm copper to the 3rd floor to get a good flow rate? Does that model baxi have a gauze filter in the...

    Whats this valve?

Some of the older houses still have the mild steel gas carcass buried in the wall or floor with "supply " points where appliances would be installed. Looks like a cooker point. If not in use put a blank to seal. Tested afterwards of course. May be old and gas supply replaced by copper pipe. As...

Sink drain pulling vaccum on boiler condensate trap

That condensate 3/4" overflow pipe into the tee is bad practice. Better to have it inch and a half pipe, less chance of it blocking. If it blocks the boiler condensate will back up and shut the boiler down. Alteration needed.

Boiler leaking water Urgent advice needed?

The housing association would most likely assess the problem and isolate the leak. Then leave you with temporary heaters. Parts likely need to be ordered and time for an engineer to fix. As you have young children are they not obliged to attend ? Maybe escalate the complaint.

    Fan assistance for radiators.

You need to heat the room consistently. The building fabric cools down when heating off. That's the key... insulation and stopping heat loss. Good luck with your experiments. Boiler will cycle less at lower temperatures.

    Boiler blocked for servicing?

If you knew he was coming to service it, remove all the stuff underneath it and make sure there is access to take the boiler cover off. Yes the flue has to be inspected and the flue gas analysis (fga) test point is usually on the top of the boiler on the flue elbow. Make that panel easily...
