    Help with quote?

Taking a sensible view point. Work out how much you need to earn in the year, don't forget to include your outgoings, divide by 52 then 40. there's your hourly rate, assuming you're busy for a 40 hour week of course. Cover for not being busy all the time, triple your hourly rate and that'll...

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

Now now, it's just a boiler =) I'd like to think I'm sensible enough to weigh up my options and take it from there, so rather than a "this is right, that is wrong" it's all about individual points of view. Of which we're all entitled. I work in domestic / commercial satellite... so in...

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

I'm sure it'll make a lot more sense once I have the dimensions and floor plan up later. All the hot water requirements are pretty much centralised to one part of the house, so it's not as if there is going to be oodles of pipe to run through before hitting the tap. If anything, the pipe...

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

It was my idea to run a combi in all fairness. No point in shooting posters providing advice in the posts above due to my choice, lol... It's a difficult choice for us to make in all honesty. Looking at the specs of a few, and using our current hot water requirements running off an Ideal...

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

My current house is 13 rooms... and physically it's about 1/4 of the size on the whole. My mates bungalow floor plan fits in ONE of the rooms. Seriously, it's a big house. I'll try get some proper measurements tomorrow if I get chance after work. EDIT : Internal floor space is 300 sq...

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

Oh, the 14 rooms doesn't include the utility rooms / storage rooms. I only included the day to day living rooms.

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

7 bedrooms, 4 reception rooms... and yes it is that big. What am I trying to achieve? Err... heat and hot water, lol. The house itself was up until recently a residential home (with an extension that has now been removed from the equation) and has a system boiler with mahoosive tank in...

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

I've read the stickies, and had a ponder... but coming up with a blank. So far as sizing a combi boiler is concerned, "forget the rads, think of hot water demand" is messing with my noodle! I'm looking at changing a 30 year old traditional boiler (and sacking the chimp that feeds it!)...

    small tracker required

Swap driving licence (or other item of value) for a radio on entry... pretty sure they won't forget to hand the radio back in. Wife works in A&E, and they were having horrendous problems with the controlled drug keys going home with forgetful staff. Oddly enough, when their mobile phone...

    Remote control for TV

Is the volume spike evident through both your surround systems AND TV speakers? It might well be as Ricardus has indicated. If you have the option to set the sound stage on your TV to stereo try that. I had the exact same problem for years on my main TV until I got a sound bar and...

    Re-roof - what slate?

I'm in a similar position of needing to reroof... multiple entry holes for insects and wot not. I actually want to reuse the slates because they're the originals off the roof (I'm not being tight, lol) Is there any special cleaning required for slate tiles prior to being relaid?

    Removing Break Glass Call points

In the main the call points are surface mount with conduit (at least the ones that would affect the 160 year old cornices!!) So I'm basically bridge the gaps to keep the circuit continuous and I'm golden? Getting to the cabling under floors / in roof spaces is straight forward enough, so...

    Removing Break Glass Call points

Just the call points, no point in getting rid of a perfectly serviceable and working Fire Alarm after all. Peace of mind for the family and all that.

    Removing Break Glass Call points

I think they are 240v. There are three of them running off the CH timer, which was put in place to shut three doors at predetermined times on an evening. I'm not sure what the white box is about above left. I'm guessing that it's where the various wires come in and connect together. Zone...

    Removing Break Glass Call points

As promised, photos of the alarm. It's a Protec alarm system if that helps. Didn't jot the model down *DOH* Oh, the central heating timer above to the right is for the magnet fire door holder-openers. Nice to see that we have a Bomb Alert option in place ready for the End of...

    Dual Tech Pir

Bear in mind also that any sensor that uses microwave can also cause interference with a Satellite TV system if you have one. Just make sure your dish cannot "see" the sensor and you'll be golden.

    Removing Break Glass Call points

Cheers Sparkymarka... Pretty sure it has a step down transformer with battery power for bells built in. I know one of the tests I used to have to do was make sure it all still worked with the mains power to the unit turned off, including emergency lighting etc. I'm driving past tomorrow...
