    Cavity wall....and slugs

I hate slugs... they always get into our house too. I think they come thru the cat flap! Can a slug push open a cat flat do you reckon?! :? Sorry... no advice other than sprinkle salt on the little blighters!

Don't want to burn my flat down using extension cables

So, ignoring the legality of it... are you wanting a permanent extension in place that always has a socket on the landing or are you just bringing out the extension when you need to use the desk? If it was me, i'd just trail an extension out the front door whenever i'm using the desk and...

Don't want to burn my flat down using extension cables

I would have thought your landlord would be breaking a few health and safety rules by letting you set up a desk in a shared circulation space.

Plastic pipes on sealed central heating system.

I'm about to embark on my first plumbing project; replacing a radiator and associated pipe work to the lounge. I've read some of the previous posts and i'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing but would like a few things confirming: Is plastic pipe acceptable on a sealed central heating system...

    Service valve leaking

So I'll need to replace the service valve as well then. That can come later when I connect the new pipe up.

    Service valve leaking

I tried to close a service valve on a pipe in the cellar and it sprang a leak, squirting out a fine jet from near the screw. I opened it again and it stopped so i closed it again and i now get a very slow drip. Will the valve actually be closed or might if a broke and stuck open? Are service...

    Skimming guidance required

there's no way i'd attempt a full wall. I only did this because I knew it wouldn't matter too much if it wasn't perfect. It was a fun and messy learning experience though.

    Baxi 105e fault light flashing

I've got the same problem with my boiler (though it seems to be working ok today) and was wondering if replacing this sensor is a fairly safe and simple task for a DIYer with a bit of nouse.

    Skimming guidance required

Well I've done it and I don't know what all the fuss was about, it was easy! :D Ok, so maybe it was a bit tricky but it didn't cost me much and it'll do since most of it is behind a radiator anyway. Getting it on the wall and smooth is easy enough, but actually getting it flat was the...

    Skimming guidance required

Thanks for you help, I'm going to get cracking in a minute. i did alright with the one coat plaster... but the material itself doesn't seem to lend itself to getting a good smooth finish. I'm only doing a small area and most of it is hidden behind a radiator anyway, so even if i don't do a...

New radiator and valves (TRV or not TRV)

Yeah, I might do that. There is a drain off valve on a pipe run in the cellar but I'm pretty sure that has seized up. They look a bit ugly on the radiator valve though so I might replace the one in the cellar.
