    drive belts - is there a special technique to fit them?

    take the small rear panel off put the belt around the motor and as far around the pulley as possible. turn the pulley around slowly and ease the belt on make sure once the belt is on its central on the pulley

    Awful grinding noise

    Either something caught between the inner & outer drums, worn bearings or broken spider. If you tip the machine forward against a wall with the power off you can remove the sump hose from the underside of the machine and check for debris. Its easier to see debris by removing the element but...

    Most likely is the element (wash side) Worth checking the dryer elements too. Worn carbons can trip electrics. Could also be faulty motor, pump or timer.

    Is the machine buzzing from the rear when the cycle starts - sign of the valves opening but no water supply. HAve you checked what supply is on and no kinks in the hoses. If there is no noise the likely answer is faulty valves. It is also possible the pressure system is bunged up, or that...

    hotpoint wma33 - drum seized

    at th ebottom of the suspension peg is a little pip sticking out. Push this in with a flat headed driver and pull the other end with a pair if pliers. Did a WMA drum change last week in under an hour, only cut 2 fingersthis time!

    i've repaired loads of wma range machines. If you're handy enough take the whole drum assy out and replace the back half. Not a job however for the virgin engineer!

    I get called out to do a few washer repairs. Usually we get by without knowing what the error codes mean, but is there anywhere where I can get a list of the codes and what they mean?
