    Saddam to be executed

Over tea tonight I asked my son the same question. "Is it right to execute this man". There was a long silence, his mouth stopped chomping and his eyes rolled as if searching the air for an answer. No answer was forthcoming so I gave a reply to my own question. Though many lived in fear of...

Noisy electical output from new TV

Eh! What, er Where! Now ther's an idea! I, or rather my son, had the same problem not so long ago with our new telly. :? I couldn't for the life of me hear the high pitch coming from it but he could and drove him crazy. So I took it back and got another one which seemed ok to him. Problem...

Painting door frames - should I remove old paint first?

This is a job you have to seriously look at twice. :( Once at just what's involved and  once at yourself. Take a good hard look at your woodwork (frames and architraves) and decide how intricate they are. The reason I'm asking this is because you are going to have to get into all...

    CUTTING GRANITE WORKTOPS

Best advise is to get the pros in. I watched a pro team (man and lad) arrive early one Friday morning to fit granite worktops for neighbour whom I was working for. The guys were at it all day. I finished at half five and they were still at it. Looked really fed up. The problem is those cut edges...

fixing stainless steel radiator to stone tiles (travertine)

Sorry, I was a bit assuming. Those Travertine tiles are a natural stone from Iran. There composition is such that they have real hard bits in them and other bits quite soft. Just the way mother nature made them. But boy when you hit a hard area on cutting or drilling it can be a bit frustrating...

    Easi-fill type product

 There's 2 I know of. 1 www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=A336147&ts=46881&id=11996 and the second at Homebase called "Homebase Lightweight Filler". Of the two I prefer the "Onestrike". Slightly thicker consistency and dries a bit quicker. You'll be amazed at how this stuff works...

fixing stainless steel radiator to stone tiles (travertine)

Assuming you have all the fittings for your radiator i.e. valves and wall brackets, if not go to screwfix.com, use a 6mm masonry drill bit and plugs (code, red) and you'll be sound. Nice tiles those Travertines

Can I use Dulux Retail over Dulux Trade base coat

The answer to your question is yes. The key difference is the consistency of the paint. Dulux Retail paints are ready for use straight from the can. Many professional decorators, however, like to thin their paint before use and so Dulux Trade paints have a slightly different formulation...

    Consumer unit

I want to install 2 handwash water heaters each 2 or 3kw. I have no room in my existing consumer unit and plan to use a smaller consumer unit. How do I bring power from the existing unit to the new one and what size of cable leads do I need? Many thanks!

How do I clean Victorian mosaic floor tiles

There is no easy way round this job. I've done it many times and the main ingredient is patience and some soapy steel wool pads. After the grime is off apply your linseed oil allowing it time to seep in. Apply 3 or 4 liberal coats over a couple of days and finally buff-up with clean dry cloth...
