400kW charger - how many of these on a typical local network ?

The calculation is on how much extra generation is needed to replace diesel with electric to run cars, not on how that extra generation is created.

400kW charger - how many of these on a typical local network ?

A quick google ( not double checked multiple sources) suggests following efficiencies. "EVs convert about 59%–62% of the electrical energy from the grid to power at the wheels. Conventional gasoline vehicles only convert about 17%–21% of the energy stored in gasoline to power at the wheels."

The efficiency of internal combustion engines vs electric would need factoring in.

Extractor fan ducting - flat channel vs round efficiency

I would think round ducting would improve the situation a bit, particularily with that fairly long run. Bends will introduce lots of drag so keep them to a minimum. Another thing to maybe check is how easily air can get into the bathroom to replace whats being extracted. Is there a big enough...

The sudden drops to zero output does not look like cloud problems.

    Solar panel drop outs

I can't see anything attached. One possibility is that the main grid voltage is getting too high whilst the pannels are producing power. If the mains voltage gets too high the solar pannel inverter will cut out for safety reasons.

Under cabinet LEDs running too hot?

Yeah I agree it certainly made the situation sound sound more extreme. :)

Under cabinet LEDs running too hot?

My initial impression was that the whole cupboard had effectivley become hot enough to be a warming draw, but it was clarified that it was a localised heating issue just above the lights which is where the temperature was being measured.

Under cabinet LEDs running too hot?

Yeah I just found instructions for the sycamore sirius connect 2.6w (assuming Im looking at the correct version) and it is suitable for fitting into a blind hole.

Under cabinet LEDs running too hot?

Ah OK, the way thats fitted its no supprise you have a small hotspot right above the light. With it recessed into the base of the cabinet like that there will be hardly any wood between the inside of the cabinet and the top of the light - even the fairly low heat from LEDs would easily penetrate it.

Under cabinet LEDs running too hot?

You say you measured it inside the cabinet just above where the light is, but how warm is the rest of the cabinet? Could it be your just measuring a small hotspot and the rest of the cabinet is considerably cooler?

Under cabinet LEDs running too hot?

That seems a crazy amount of heat from such low power LEDs. Is the power supply in the cupboard?

    Electricity Suppliers - advice?

From past experience when your supplier decides to up the direct debit even though your usage hasn't gone up and your on a fixed tariff its a sign they are having cash flow problems... and are probably on the verge of going bust. Its what happened with two of my suppliers just before they went...

    Electricity Suppliers - advice?

I believe the funds to cover peoples credit in the event a supplier goes bust comes from some kind of levy that is paid by all energy suppliers. Ofgem 'saftey net'.

    Electricity Suppliers - advice?

Somewhat suprisingly I have not had any supplier try and get me to install a smart meter yet. Maybe its because they haven't had chance before I change supplier again or they go bust!

    Electricity Suppliers - advice?

My last company that went bust was 'one select' and it was 'together energy' who took on the accounts and branded it 'together select'. Obviously ofgem thought 'together energy' were capable of taking on a big chunk of extra customers - that probably has some weight in showing they are an OK...

    Electricity Suppliers - advice?

I'm very careful and double check all the details I enter when switching supplier are correct along with any meter readings. The sytems suppliers use will be mostly, if not fully, automated and if I can avoid mistakes it reduces the chances of having to deal with customer support. If the...

    Electricity Suppliers - advice?

I regularly change supplier chasing the cheapest prices, which seem to always be the small new companies. People report terrible customer support with some companies, but Ive never had an issue where I have had to deal with customer services so far thankfully. Two previous suppliers I have...
