Drayton Wiser smart multizone kit question.

I've taken notice of such things lately as well, there’s quite a few options from different manufactures offering similar systems. I was considering them as an option to control the bedrooms in my house. Been wondering whether to go simple and get some standalone timed heads, or go for a more...

Why does the lamp have a coil?

I have to say I thinik drain holes are a very good idea. In my experience anything electrical outside, even supposedly sealed units, will always get water into them - so its much more preferable to provide a drain than let water accumulate (obviously excluding submereged items such as pond pumps...

How much does a self employed RGI earn per day?

Plenty of plumbing is on show requiring skill and attention to detail. Shockingly bad prep work by plasters can be hidden by a lovely smooth skim (which may fall off later from the poor work beneath...).

How much does a self employed RGI earn per day?

In fairness none of your posts have answered his question either.... ;)

How much does a self employed RGI earn per day?

I didn't say that it was.... Obviously he has overheads, but that was what he charged for a full days labour.

    Compost bin 'duvet'

How about a sheet of PIR insulation board cut to fit inside? If the top of compost is flat you can put it on top with no air space, and the PIR board won't absorb water.

Vaillant boiler leak and PCB error

I beleive its quite common for vaillants to develope leaks on rubber hoses with time. Your error may be down to water getting in the wiring, but it could also be unrelated.

Bosch PSR 1080 charger making strange noise

Sounds like a battery cooling fan in the charger has got something catching its blades.

    Soil pipe alignment tolerance?

There are 90 degree knuckle bends, but probably not the best to use mid run when you need to keep things flowing smoothly.

    Thin JB/backbox behind bathroom cabinet?

Thats how I fitted a bathroom cabinet the other year. Put a backbox on the other side of a stud wall with run of conduit through to bathroom. Could just push the annoyingly short pre fitted wire through conduit easily when hanging cupboard, then connect it up easily later in the other room.

    Soil pipe alignment tolerance?

So long as the overal length is no longer than previously stated it would probably work ok. Building control don't like many bends though. I have a run about 4m with a couple of swept 90 bends (not quite 90 ) and a 45 to get a pipe running between joists, then dropping below them and...

    Soil pipe alignment tolerance?

I'd think you would get away with that angle with pushfit stuff, particularily if the bend was pushfit at each end.

    Soil pipe alignment tolerance?

I've found there is a bit of wiggle room on push fit fittings, but not realy on solvent fit. As already mentioned you dont want a truley horizontal run, you need to meet minimum required fall to stop blockages.

    Pipes into gulley

You could cut a section of the grid out with a grinder to get the pipes through.

    Washing Machine/Dishwasher - Operating switch

My CU is the other side of the house and not easy to reach quickly in an emergency, thats why I went for the plug. My plan is to fit a local isolator to the side of appliances for the very reason of avoiding having to reach over anything that actualy caught fire. I've also remembered my...

    Washing Machine/Dishwasher - Operating switch

I also had a dryer that started smoking. It was plugged into a socket at the back of a cupboard next to it. As I was disconnecting the plug with my head in the cupboard next to a possibly burning machine the thought did cross my mind that I'd much rather have more easily accessible means to...

Banging from hot water cylinder - please help

Might be a neighbour running dishwasher/washing machine on off peak electricity at night causing water hammer. Whilst I was part way through altering some plumbing in my house with pipes not yet securely fixed my washing machine casued loud water hammer when shutting off its water valve.

    Water in gas pipes

A couple of months ago I got into a conversation with a cadent engineer. I was walking along and noticed a generator chained to one of those posts marking service locations, then spotted the engineer a short distance away eating his lunch. Turns out he had been sent out to trace the exact path...

    Looking for two specific products

Ive always encountered a greater number of bad connections using plugs on solid core cables (terminated with the correct plug) as opposed to stranded. I supect the main cause for this is the force the stiff solid core cable can apply to the plug whilst inserted causing a less than perfect...
