Moisture in floorboards around screw heads?

Yup.. Only thing I can think of is to remove the screws and seal the hole with some form of waterproof filler. Not sure how that's going to get round holding the board down though, or any moisture issues below the insulation..

Moisture in floorboards around screw heads?

We recently have part of our garage decked out and converted into a room. On top of the concrete floor was laid 50mm solid foil backed insulation followed by T&G floorboards with bitumen in between each layer. There must have been some slightly deflections in the original floor, as in places...

    Sockets in PIR backed plasterboard?

We have a scenario whereby the house has a single skin brick wall, however we need to fit sockets to this wall. We're looking at an insulated plasterboard such as Celotex PL4025 which has a vapour barrier backer on it. What's the best way to go about mounting a backbox and cables? Conduit...

Baths Luke warm, other hot taps red hot

There are 2 taps, hot and cold. They then feed into the mixer valve. So the mixer valve will only be hot, if the hot tap is on and not the cold. Take a look at the pictures above. If you have Hot and Cold on but without the mixer valve, no water will come out

Baths Luke warm, other hot taps red hot

Actually that's a good point. There are 2 separate hot cold taps that feed into the mixer. Even with cold off, it's still lukewarm

Baths Luke warm, other hot taps red hot

Not a new build, but had new bathrooms and boilers fitted. He's checked all his cupboards and under the baths for one but can't see one anywhere. Have told him to check the half flow to see if its any better. The boiler they have is a Worcester 440CDi with a flow rate of 20lpm. Our boiler is...

Baths Luke warm, other hot taps red hot

Just updated with more info on the tap setup. Not sure on the lpm, however it looks like the feed is via 15mm copper

Baths Luke warm, other hot taps red hot

Brother has an issue where all of his hot taps and showers are red hot, apart from his baths where the water is like warm. They've got a huge combi boiler system. He's checked under the bath and there's no sign of a mixer valve anywhere. Any idea what could be causing it? Update: It's a...

External Rotary Isolator with rear entry?

Does anyone know where I can get a 16A IP65 rotary isolator that has a rear entry hole? It's to isolate a 13a aircon unit I've tried my local CEF but the ones they stock don't. Struggling with this one a bit

Best flooring type for outdoor office?

I'm after a good, durable floor for my office. The door to the office is external, so it'll be taking a lot of wear from wet, muddy shoes and dogs. The door is also a patio door, which has sunlight through it most of the day. As its an office, a roller chair will be used on it Can anyone...

Extending ring main for garage conversion?

I have no doubts he's not incapable :) I just don't particular want to be paying for a new consumer unit, outside trunking for a new circuit and full house testing if its totally unnecessary :) It's a £00 vs £000 job

Extending ring main for garage conversion?

To be honest, I just grabbed the max load values for the m/wave and googled the kettle as a general rule of thumb. The AC is 10a for max heating/cooling. The boiler is a gas boiler, so electrical usage would be minimal I assume. Pretty sure its just a "trickle" for the piezo and computer? In...

Extending ring main for garage conversion?

So, had an electrician out to take a look. What are people's thoughts on this. Current CU is setup for 2 socket circuits. Left and Right. On the right side of the house is the kitchen, with kettle, fridge, microwave as the main appliances, plus the usual other stuff you have in sockets...

Extending ring main for garage conversion?

I saw that. The issue I have with that is I have no idea which of the wires are the ring main and which aren't.
