Not really a DIY question - Capacitive Loads Query

There is no way your colleague took that measurement correctly.

Changes to connect a 16A (hardwired) oven to 13A socket

There are plenty of ovens out there that can be connected to a 13A supply - you just need to do some research. Lots of them say 16A though when they're not. This is because (as mentioned above), 16A is a standard circuit size on the continent. For example almost all Bosch (and Neff/Siemens...

    Dusk till 11pm timer

Sorry, ignore that. I re-read your original post and see that you don't want a dusk + n hours one.

    Dusk till 11pm timer

Have a look at the Steinel 3000 photocell. It's not exactly what you're asking for, but is very clever and works well. Read the manual to understand how it works and I think you'll agree it's suitable.

    Washing machine in bathroom

It's quite normal elsewhere in Europe. I couldn't imagine not having it in a cupboard though!

    are patio heaters ethically acceptable?

Because a possibly non-smoking member of staff would have to go into that room as part of their job?

    are patio heaters ethically acceptable?

OK, theoretical question here. What if someone buys their energy from a 100% renewable supplier. Are they then morally allowed patio heaters?

    CAT6 FTP euro module

Shielded cable is worse than UTP in almost all applications. It's hard to install correctly, has more capacitance, and is - ultimately - pointless except for a very narrow set of circumstances. If all the cables go back to a single point, then you'll probably get away with it. Make sure...

    Dimplex Opti-Myst fires

You should contact the people you bought it from. You have consumer rights law behind you here. < 24 months is not 'satisfactory durability' for a £575 fire...

Oven and induction hob - breaker

The maximum connected load of my induction hob is 11.8kW - it's possible to use three of the five 'rings' in boost mode simultaneously. Just one of my larger 'rings' is 3.6kW alone That particular Bosch product certainly appears to have been engineered deliberately so that it can be used...

Oops, missed that. Hey ho, there's another 28 to look at!

Looking for 4-way 250v rotary switch

RS do 32 different four position rotary switches, Farnell do 29. Are none of these any good. (Tick 4 position, then apply) The second one (HS13Z) looks promising in that it's nice and chunky and relatively inexpensive.

    C E marking

The irony of all this is that it is almost impossible to export stuff to China from the UK. They are happy to flood our shores with dangerous and illegal crap, but try and send anything in the other direction and you'll face the biggest battle of your life!

Should I replace electric heater with a/c unit in bedroom?

I've got three of the cheapest possible split air conditioning units in the world. They are 'Airforce' ones sold by B&Q and I bought them for £99 each when R22 got banned a while ago. When run in 'heating' mode, they warm a room up in just minutes, and work well as long as the outside...

Extension flex wired into a switched double outlet?

It's not really good practice to tin wires which are going into screw terminals. The solder will eventually 'creep' and cause the joint to lose tension.

    cooker connection to consumer unit

It does look odd, but I don't think it's possible to be completely sure one way or the other without a photograph with the busbar cover removed.

    240v into bathroom ?!

I've found the installation manual for the 'Vigour' shower which looks identical internally. In particular, the control PCB is the same. http://www.mirashowers.co.uk/onlinecatalog/pdf/1088850_w2_d_mira_vigour_manual_power_shower.pdf That is definitely a 240V supply, and the right hand...
