Hi Guys, Please see pictures below The lead above the joint goes up to bath tap, which I want to remove and replace with copper. But how! I assume I unscrew the nut and discard fo the old lead, but what fitting do I use on the remaining thread, to then connect copper/plastic to...

    Shower pump not starting

I do believe I have told you a way of getting the pump started in the mean time before the plumber decides to come back! Have you tried continually turning the shower between hot and cold? This will sometimes also get the pump working. Would be interested in knowing IF the plumber turns...

    Shower pump not starting

Have you removed the head and tried running the shower without is attached to the hose? Limescale build up can cause a restriction in flow, check the head for build up, and clean to elimate this. You would be suprised how little can stop the pump from starting.

    Shower pump not starting

Had exactly the same problem on a recent job, head was the problem. Only way of getting wound it is lift the tank in the loft, or call salamander and they will sell you a air hose kit for about £40.00 basically it lies to the pump that the water is there and starts the pump, the only problem...

1 Radiator cold but pipe hot

If the 'working' radiator is stuck, then the TRV was probably set to a high setting, therefore it has stuck open, so will work. Will not be a problem, only that you wont be able to control it with the TRV, so loosen the pin if possible.

Do we have an airlock & what do we do?!

True, but how many are? Most pipework to WMs have been there for years, and not had check valves fitted. Obviously only my opinion

Do we have an airlock & what do we do?!

Put the sponge in a plastic bag with no holes in it! Have you got a hot and cold fed washing machine? Turn off both washing machine taps, remove the hot pipe from the tap, remove the cold pipe from the back of washing machine and connect to the hot washing machine tap. Open hot then open cold...

    Removing a radiator.

 Assuming that even with it one 0 it is actually turning off. Would very much doubt you have a one pipe system, but always good to check first!

    Removing a radiator.

One more thought! If you are hiding the capped pipe work in the wall, probably best to solder stop ends on, rather that using a compression stop end.

    Removing a radiator.

Best way if you are unsure, turn of valves either side of radiator, remove radiator (make sure you have something to catch the rad water in!) Turn heating on as normal, if it all works then it will be fine, drain system, remove valves, cut pipework back and cap off, refill. Job done...

Help - the dripping is driving me mad

It might not seem 'a clever place' but in fact it is, they are a warning pipe (also an overflow) so when it overflows you will get 'the warning' that something is wrong coz it drips on your head. Which is OK in a house, and its your warning pipe, not so good when its a flat that no one is in!

    Supporting acrylic bath

Using the brackets supplied to fix the bath to the wall, with the struts and legs should be sufficient, they are normally pretty strong legs. Screx the feet of the legs and supports into the floor. Regarding tap holes, masking tape the area you require, use a drill with a hole saw slightly...

    Draining thru Micro bore pipe

You need to buy a 'tube' of inhibitor, bit like a silcone sealant tube, remove a leed screw off one radiator and use the hose connector and pump the inhibitor the radiator, replace bleed screw and refill system.

    Odd silicon sealant issue

Thats why there is an FAQ for this subject then, in my experiance if they can leak they will, but thats only my opinion. NEVER had a prolem with a basin mate leaking, fit and forget, not hope that when you first turn the tap on you get that first drip coming down! Would only use them on a...

    Odd silicon sealant issue

Not sure about the silicone, but if you are having problems with the basin waste not sealing as they usually never do! get your self a basin mate, probably the best 2-3quid you will ever spend, remove sealant as its not required, fit the basin mate, do a search for them on here if you are unsure...
