    Baxi 105e Combi Boiler fault

Ok, I followed the FAQ regarding checking the pump as follows. 1. I set thermostat high to call for CH and ensured heating timer was on. 2. I removed the large chrome screw from the front of the pump. 3. I then switched the boiler on at the mains and the pump fired up and I could...

    Baxi 105e Combi Boiler fault

Thanks for your reply. The pump is a grundfos. I did undo the bleed screw on top of the pump and a tiny amount of air was released. However, this still hasn't solved the problem so will check the pump as you suggested.

    Baxi 105e Combi Boiler fault

Hi There, I wondered whether anyone could shed any light on a fault with my boiler. Basically, the boiler started making a loud noise yesterday when DHW was called for. CH is turned off at the moment due to mild weather. Anyway, the noise was like a loud buzzing/whirring type sound and it...

problem with combi boiler filling loop

I should clarify that when I mention that the water is 'flowing out' it is actually a very small trickle, which indicates that the ISP valve is almost closed completely, which also explains why boiler pressure has been increasing but only very gradually over a few days.

problem with combi boiler filling loop

Hi Charnwood. Right, I firstly tried disconnecting the filling loop via the wing nut coupling, I.e leaving the DCV connected to the heating return pipe. Water was flowing out of the end of the loop. This suggests that the Iso valve is not closing properly. I have turned stock cock off and...

problem with combi boiler filling loop

Thanks charnwood. I will check this tonight. Am I right in assuming that, all being well, I should be able to disconnect the loop on the central heating return side without water leaking out all over the place? Could it be that the DCV is faulty, as this is on the CH return side? How could I...

problem with combi boiler filling loop

Hi There, The filling loop has been left connected to my boiler by the previous occupants and I would like to disconnect one end of it in order to avoid 'accidental' pressurising of the system, and also to comply with regs. So, what I have done is ensure that isolation valve on filling...

    Scantronic 9448 alarm problem

Hi Everyone! I'm just letting you know that I replaced the battery, reset the panel to factory defaults, and reprogrammed system and it is now working fine again. It looks as though the programming may have been corrupted somehow when the mains power was shut off and switched back on again...

    Scantronic 9448 alarm problem

Also, if I am in engineer's mode, does this mean that I can disconnect and replace the external bell box battery without setting the alarm off? Thanks, Rob.

    Scantronic 9448 alarm problem

Thanks AlarmMan. I will try and reset to factory defaults if necessary and see what happens. From experience with other digital circuits, mains spikes can corrupt the EPROM and other memory so this could be what's happened. Possibly switching off mains supply and turning on again has spiked it...

    Scantronic 9448 alarm problem

Hi Sparkymarka, Many thanks for your reply. I have removed the fuse from the spur along with the batteries, so unit completely powered down at the moment. Thanks for the tip, I will try the 1234 code and see what happens. I have installation manual so can completely reprogram it if...

    Scantronic 9448 alarm problem

Hi there, I recently had some work carried out which required the electricity being switched off. This set the alarm off and the external sounder was sounding too. Once the alarm had been reset and the main power had been reestablished, the alarm failed to work. Basically, the green power...

Prima LPR600 not cleaning properly - no fault indicated

Thanks for the reply zipper. I tried cleaning the spray arms as well as the filter and it is still not cleaning. Since we have lived in property for 6 years and it was there when we moved in, we don't know how old it is. Anyway, have decided to bite the bullet and purchase a new one. The newer...

Prima LPR600 not cleaning properly - no fault indicated

Hi There, I have a Prima dishwasher that is not cleaning properly, in fact it appears as though the contents have barely been cleaned at all on both top and bottom racks. Also, I use Finish tablets and this remains intact too, almost as if there is not enough water circulating to dissolve the...

    Heat from vertical boiler flue

Thanks tryitandsee. I have seen no Nonsense Fire Grade expanding foam filler at Screwfix for just under 4 quid, so may go for that instead! :D Anyway, here are some pics I took of the flue. Any comments would be most appreciated. I was particularly interested to see droplets of condensation...

    Heat from vertical boiler flue

Thanks tryitandsee, I am popping to Wickes later so will have a look. simond, very interesting. I am not sure what type of flue I have but can go up and take a photo of it later and post it on here if that would help you or someone else identify the type. Supposing it is the type that you...

    Heat from vertical boiler flue

Ha Ha Dumbrill, very amusing. Do you think 10 boilers with flues located in the loft space should be sufficient? :-) Anyway, I am planning on having some tile vents fitted early in the new year which will hopefully sort the problem. With regards to sealing around the flue pipe where it...

    condensation in loft

Hi masona, The flue is for a combi boiler (Baxi 105e). From what others have said on here I'm beginning to think the problem is a lack of ventilation in the loft space, although it does feel cold up there. Thanks.

    Heat from vertical boiler flue

No Mathew, as I never received another reply since your last response asking if anyone better qualified could advise on the safe use of expanding foam to seal around the boiler flue. I have used flexible filler around other gaps in ceilings e.t.c though so have made a start. Maybe I need to...

    Heat from vertical boiler flue

Mathew, A appreciate what you're saying but I have been told by others that heat radiated from the flue could contribute to the problem. So you see my dilemma, been told different info by different people? However, I am now inlined to go along with what you say as this makes more sense to me...
