    Heatslave 20/25 - Actuator rattling

    Gledhill Boilermate 3 timer issues

My commiserations... EVERY house I have bought over the last 20 years has had boiler faults without exception and the fault was with 'simple' things: Air pressure sensor hose broken, duff capacitors / sticking relays on PCBs, stuck 3-port valve, stuck mototized diverter valve, bad contacts on...

    Heatslave 20/25 - Actuator rattling

Bet you 5p that replacing just the valve will solve the problem of the rattling actuator & hopefully the rest of your problems. I take on board oilhead's suggestion of replacing the actuator too due to stressing: BUT if it is OK, why go to the expense of replacing it? IF it is a stuck valve...

    Heatslave 20/25 - Actuator rattling

^ indeed. Again, guessing here but it seems like the valve itself is stuck in the correct position for heating. When there is DHW demand, valve needs to move, can't because it is maybe stuck and hence the actuator starts straining (i.e. rattling). Do you actually get hot water from the...

    Glowworm Ultracom 30cxi d.0 setting?

Hello, I have a Glowworm Ultracom 30cxi condensing boiler installed in my attached garage. I live in mid terrace 3 bedroom property which has 6 Stelrad Vita Compact Radiators, Double panel K2 (I think) of various sizes and a towel rail radiator in the bathroom. Total max power output of all...

    Expensive money-saving idea

Heh, I ask because recently my place of work has suddenly been stickered with loads of '!! WARNING, ASBESTOS !!' labels on the walls etc. Interestingly, no one raised so much as an eyebrow and nothing has been done to remove any of it. Researching, I found that there are many different types...

    Heatslave 20/25 - Actuator rattling

If the actuator is buzzing then it is at least trying to work. I'd purely guess that the thing the actuator is trying to move is frozen, i.e. the valve? Can you remove the actuator and try to open / close the valve by hand? Bet it needs a bit of force... A

    ID Shower Controller Please

Oh, are these things repairable / cleanable? Or do they just simply wear out. Damned prohibitively expensive things it would appear. Cheers, Andy

    ID Shower Controller Please

Hello, Can anyone identify this shower control please? I need to replace the cartridge as control over hot / cold is lacking the cold part! Thanks in advance, Andy

    Testing a Three Way Valve

Thanks chap. Good diagram, but I *think* that is for external mains wiring of a complete heating system. What I am taking about is INTERNAL wiring to a three port valve from the control board within the combi-boiler itself. Jist of the matter is that I want to know if the control board...

    Testing a Three Way Valve

Hello, I have a Glow-worm Ultracom 30cxi Condensing Boiler. Inside is a 'three way valve'. This valve is controlled via what I assume to be an actuator (with micro-switches?) connected to 4 wires, white, orange, blue & green. Q1) is the actuator to control the valve position which is...

Glow Worm Ultracom 30cxi - Advice please

Just moved home & I am pleased to see installed a Glow Worm (Valiant) Ultracom 30cxi which I read has generally good reviews. This condensing boiler was installed about 7 years ago into the garage (which is 1/2 integral to the house). So, questions if I may with which I hope to seek useful...

    baxi solo 3 circuit diagram

Have you recently had your boiler serviced? One other thing that was wrong on my boiler was the venting fan had siezed. Also the APS sensor can get clogged up with dust & crap. Again, I got a repacement reconditioned fan from eBay for about £40 (if memory serves) instead of the £168 asking price...

    baxi solo 3 circuit diagram

Then it's fine! Are you getting the basic on-board supply voltages (see circuit diagram). Question: Does the pilot light come on? There is a wierd little part of the circuit that detects ions coming off the flame of the pilot light. If the circuit does not detect this, then nothing else...

    baxi solo 3 circuit diagram

Thank you! Does it measure out as still being 1K. If it is truely cooked, can you not replace it? Maplin might be able to supply such a resistor and you could replace it with a higher wattage version? Indeed. To be honest, I think the design of these boards is **** poor. As you can see...

    baxi solo 3 circuit diagram

@ChrisR, I used the schematic capture capabilites of Protel 99SE (which has now transformed into Altium). Just out of interest, the way I go about reverse engineering a PCB is thus: First off I take a high quality well lit digital photograph of the PCB and then use PaintShop to mirror image...

LOL. She was the one who nagged & nagged me to fix the poxy thing. Anyway, original post now updated to to include the other 2 PCBs I came across and use of better quality images (Thank you PhotoBucket!). Enjoy. Andy
