using a 12v switch to operate a 240v appliance

    apologies for my recent outburst ....at times one gets the impression that the world is spinning too slowly for all the wrong reasons - this happens in all fields and disciplines (this time was the electricians....next the plumbers :wink: )

    using a 12v switch to operate a 240v appliance

    the killing is the money made from of all these blockages and regs checks - which would not be needed (most of them) if 12v were made more available - innit? Just greedy pro don't want that cos' they'll lose - and we all are kept in the dark - literally. The flashy technology seen on that link...

    using a 12v switch to operate a 240v appliance

     Very cool indeed....but I wouldn't dare to check them prices...surely, the technology has been available for ages...still we are stuck with a market which is too slow to understand we have plenty of other choices than pulling dangling strings inside bathrooms?! Not to mention to having...

    using a 12v switch to operate a 240v appliance

    The transformer does a lot more than simply feeding the fan....there is a radio, led lights, audio connectors, massager.... I thought about the humidistat...still, the shower has a steam facility and you don't want to get the fan taking away all that precious steam - it's ok for a simple...

    using a 12v switch to operate a 240v appliance

    what do you mean by "electrically separated"? Electronics isn't my cup of tea - please let's keep a "basic-electromoron" lingo... Meanwhile...I've landed into this...

    using a 12v switch to operate a 240v appliance

     thanks for the link...I guess this might do the job but right now I'm pretty clueless on how to use/connect this stuff - for that price I might just buy and experiment a bit...I might connect the red and black 12v wire from the shower cubicle on the right places (if I find them) and a...

    Remote control lighting?

    I think you need something like this: http://www.google.co.uk/shopping/product/8834748888291633829?q=home%20easy%20switches&hl=en&client=opera&hs=GB7&channel=suggest&sa=X&ei=ZBgcUYzXLKXK0AWTwoHQAg&ved=0CIkBEPMCMAU and then this one...

    using a 12v switch to operate a 240v appliance

    Ok, here we are entering the electronic area (more than simply electrics), but this simple project might have huge potentials for anyone.... The basic problem is this: I have a brand new enclosed shower cubicle - it has all the basic functions and more, including a fan....the latter is...

    power inside a bathroom

    I did try myself before I bought it - in the end I checked similar product - these are probably made in China and even if you grab their manuals you'll need to decoded them (am still at it)....there are some reasons why these shower are so cheap - it's a bit like gambling really.

    ventilating an enclosed shower cubicle and bathroom

    correction: I don't need an extracting vent in the middle of the ceiling (no I don't)...a better solution would be as far as possible for the air inlet - e.g. a window or a vent at the bottom of a door. We learn something new everyday... Now, it seems centrifugal are the fans to go...

    power inside a bathroom

    That consumer unit without RCD bothers me a bit...there is no need for an aquarium - then RCD units aren't that expensive.... There is another option for the shower - I've just found out that the cable is long enough for plugging it outside the bathroom (by boring the internal wall)...seems a...

    power inside a bathroom

    There are many clones similar to the one in question....this is one of them: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-2013-STEAM-SHOWER-CUBICLE-ENCLOSURE-BATH-CABIN-900mm-x-900mm-Radio-2525-/221173328324?pt=UK_Bathroom_Mats_Rugs&hash=item337ef529c4 Still, gathering information in advance isn't...

    power inside a bathroom

    Just a point: In my first post I didn't mention about the mains cable for the 3000w steamer...and stated that it was an "just" electric shower with a 12v transformer (in truth there are 2 circuits within the shower - AC and DC). Fact is that I'm not yet fully acquainted with the newly bought...

    ventilating an enclosed shower cubicle and bathroom

    Indeed, I've mentioned about this steamer shower in another thread - but here is for other reasons: ventilation and how do these steam cubicle work...as I've bought it but haven't installed yet and never tried before... There are some shower with proper sauna function....these steam versions...

    power inside a bathroom

    The dedicated radial circuit is provided by the consumer unit (no RCD there) - still the RCD is part of the shower cable (not exactly in the shower)...I guess the shower is designed to be connected to a socket outside the bathroom (then, maybe this shower isn't entirely compliant with UK...

    power inside a bathroom

    this is an electric shower with 3000w steamer (so, it can be compared to a power shower) - the RCD is part of the bundle and is incorporated in the power cable.... I though about changing the consumer unit... Still, the UFH is already installed and working successfully with it's own...

    ventilating an enclosed shower cubicle and bathroom

    I'm about to install an enclosed shower cubicle in a small bathroom (1.8m x 1.5m)....the same cubicle comes with a per-installed fan but no ducting - so as it stands, it would simply eject vapour/condensation in the bathroom area (no good). The cubicle hasn't been installed yet - this because I...

    power inside a bathroom

    something isn't quite right...my last message disappeared (no trolling no insults involved) - anyhow, I try to re-post it (maybe there were some java issues with my Opera browser).... the RCD for the shower is already included in the shower cubicle (a modern steam shower with radio and led...
