    Deactivating Texecom Vertias 8 system

I'd imagine it would work like most proper signalling systems - a period "I'm OK" poll that will trigger an alert if not received. The market is a bit strange at the moment. There are the professional alarms which have some important features (soak tests, double knock, powerful zones, part...

    Deactivating Texecom Vertias 8 system

Yes, the lack of battery back-up is a big worry. But then you'll need your router on the same backup as well? I wish there was more detail on their site. The hardware means it could do a lot. Things like battery life monitoring, encryption, shutting down sensors when disarmed etc. My...

    Deactivating Texecom Vertias 8 system

I'd not heard of these alarms before. They look interesting, so I did a quick write-up of them: http://cybergibbons.com/alarms-2/ismartalarm-quick-teardown/ Where did you get yours from?

BT Homesafe Wireless Burglar Alarm System.

Not seen these before. Can anyone pop the back cover off the main panel and take some pictures of the PCB?

    Yale HSA 3500

Have you or anyone else installed anything else wireless on that range like a doorbell, weather station, baby monitor, video sender or other alarm system?

    Sensor/bell box recommendations

"Microwave" covers a massive range of frequencies. Motion sensors are at about 10.5GHz, a long way from the 2.4GHz used in microwave ovens. The power is also incredibly low.

    Texecom Premier 24 not arming

I've just been playing around with a Premier Elite 12-W - you can use a FTDI USB->TTL serial cable with Wintex. You can get FTDI breakouts from eBay for about £5 most of the time. http://cybergibbons.com/alarms-2/programming-a-texecom-premier-elite-12-w-using-a-ftdi-cable/

    Yale HSA6400 Power Requirements

I'd noticed this inconsistency before as well. The transformer with mine (from ~3 years back) is unregulated though, with regulation in the panel. I would be inclined to just extend the existing power supply. Use reasonable gauge wire and voltage drop shouldn't be an issue - the panel works...

    Wireless Alarm Systems

I like the Pyronix Enforcer, you get a lot for your money and it seems to work well. Texecom Premier Elite now does Ricochet wireless and is also good, not as cheap, and not as easy to use.

Reverse engineering alarms and alarm technologies

Why not? It's a great way of learning about reverse engineering and finding issues with other alarms.

    yale wireless alarm

It will show permanent alarm with the backplate off as the tamper switch will be open.

Reverse engineering alarms and alarm technologies

If anyone is interested, I've written up some of my work looking at a wireless alarm system (Friedland) as well as some posts on technologies used in more advanced alarms. Reverse engineering a wireless burglar alarm, part 1 - spectrum analysis and basic signal capture with SDRReverse...

    Wireless panel survey

Morning all, I'm just trying to get as many details about as many wireless alarms as possible. Part of the purpose of this is seeing how much people know about the alarms from the material available to them, so don't worry if you think someone else will have already filled it out for...

Is this smoke alarm within the regs?

Thing is, regardless of any law, it's partially blocked on both sides and won't be working as well as it could.

I love how you and JohnD actually seem to be incapable of responding to questions.

I haven't said it will happen. I've said it could happen. But keep on installing alarms with problems without thinking it could happen, it's fine. Why have you assumed there is no money in this? Or is that another straw man you are putting up?

So some prices off the net for a company in Yorkshire: * Yale 6200 normally £272 special offer save 30% £199 * Yale 6400 normally £430 special offer save 30% £299 I can get a Pyronix Enforcer fitted in London for £450. It's much better, and not just in terms of security.

He's so concerned someone might not have an alarm system, he must be fitting them at cost, or he'll have all those break-ins on his score card.

    In response to Bernard Green

Sorry, I might not have been clear on this. I'm not just discussing Yale equipment. Alarms a lot more expensive and a lot more "advanced" in terms of marketing are actually not any better than Yale or Friedland. But they do have much bigger legal budgets to try and sue me... The things I want...

I don't understand why you are spending time on this. Are you trying to disprove something I have said?
