    Toilet flush pipe connector leaks

you need to eliminate the movement in the pipe. Without seeing it I can't tell you exactly how but maybe clip the pipe to a wood block screwed to wall behindthe pipe?

Cold radiators - any advice please?

CLF - I agree blockage is most likely - Thats the obvious assumption with cold downstairs rads when you know its a circulation problem. The o/p is dreading that so we were just giving him things to eliminate that could be responsible and save him agro. I been to numerous properties for...

    Toilet flush pipe connector leaks

The pipe is going in straight and unstressed? Are you sure its not leaking from the cistern end and running down? Ive never had a single problem with either colour of soft rubber cone. Make sure the pipe is entering the pan and cistern at rightangles (squarely) and fully (bit of silicone grease...

Timber for a good strong gate

Get Iroko - it lasts longer and its cheap. Use it for anything outside.

Cold radiators - any advice please?

I agree. Also, TRVs can stick shut/half open and require the pin pulling up manualy and some WD40....

    Toilet flush pipe connector leaks

Those finned, semi rigid nylon swines are awful. Replace the flush cone with a decent soft rubber one. Shouldn't cost more than acouple of quid.

    Toilet flush pipe connector leaks

I dunno but I know what you mean. I ve seen so many basin wastes that were leaking cos the rubber washer had twisted out of position due to the muppet turning the outlet and not the screw in the plug hole. Then they cake it in silicone but it never works

Do you realy like what you do?

Its fairly easy to admit insignificant minutae that happen once every 7 years and resulty in nothing of any consequence  That ******* joint passed testing to 2.5 bar and started leaking through a pinhole a month later at 1 bar - give me a break :P

Do you realy like what you do?

True but its not characteristic of me, honest  I can count the callbacks ive had in 20 years on one hand THATS why i'm going on about it  You insult me based on wrong conclusions. I don't spec the job, or buy the materials, I'm given drawings and a storesman brings the stuff to...

Dumbfounded - why wont the rads warm up !

IF the system is piped right it vents itsself hense the term open vented system - thats why you have a vent pipe going to the exspansion tank. Some people used to put the return valve on the top of rads so they always bled themselves..throught the vent pipe (the one that points into the f/e)

    Toilet flush pipe connector leaks

I hate the cheap flushcones. the nice rubber ones never leak if the jobs done right. So many Ive seen leaked cos the person didn't cut the pipe corectly and either have insufficient pipe in the cone/bowl or it goes in at an angle that levers the cone up or down making it leak. Often in those...

In neeed of a new boiler

Yeah mate, I used to work with plumbers on exstensions - they calculate how many btus by cubic meterage in the property and you factor in things like construction type, ceiling heights, radiator sizes and positions (they can be half as efficient in funny shaped room or if unidealy positioned)...

    boilers in tandem.

This is why I resent paying taxes - as Ive said elsewhere, they use my own money against me  these asylum seekers are probs also jobseekers on scratching on day and doing cheapa nd dodgy plumbing the rest of the time

Do you realy like what you do?

 yeah that would have prevented it. Honestly? I shoud not have soldered this particular fitting in situ...very hard to get to - thats why I couldn't see it wasn't a goodun (I was using map and it seems I overheated it so the solder ran back out  ) In fixing it I went about the...

need advice about a power shower, cw tank, hw tank and pump

You could get a big pump and a bigger/additional cold tank and you could get a bigger cyclinder but you may then need a bigger boiler - otherwise your thermostatic shower valve will be holding most of that flow back after 5 minutes of showering... If this was the case youd be better off...

    boilers in tandem.

12 flats, 20 rads? less than 2 each? do you mean flats or bedsits? cos bedsits have a shared system and shared bills...

    shower cubicles

Stored hot water is inefficient with todays combis. Apart from the cost of them, they add many possible points of failure to your DHW suppy over a combination boiler that can deliver 18 litres/minute at 34 degrees. Also, with your cylinder, you can run out which I hate when I'm the last to...
