Ring main circuits appear to be radial at consumer unit.

I assumed they were rings because rings are common practice. Rings should mean the cable runs through the all the sockets returns to the CU with two tails in the circuit breakers. I would be none the wiser had I not opened the consumer unit to check the circuit breaker was still supplying voltage.

Ring main circuits appear to be radial at consumer unit.

All three rings have a 32 amp. Cable is 2.5mm.

Ring main circuits appear to be radial at consumer unit.

My kitchen ring circuit has gone off. I removed a section of cable that ran behind the sink and now none of the sockets work. I checked the CU and discovered that all three ring main circuits that I thought I had appear to be radial circuits. All three of them only have one cable going into the...

    Kitchen refurbishment on a budget

Had a rethink on the kitchen refurb. We’ve decide on a new one. Remove all the old stuff, re plaster the walls and ceiling after checking that we have enough electrical sockets in the places that we need them. Maybe I’ll list my old kitchen on eBay to offset some of my costs. Spending more on...

    Kitchen refurbishment on a budget

I’m probably going to replace some units but my budget isn’t able to stretch very far.

Very good point. I hadn’t thought of that.

    Kitchen refurbishment on a budget

I’m probably just going for one. Two was tempting but losing too much worktop. Worktop to be replaced too. The missus has hated that from day one.

    Kitchen refurbishment on a budget

Some current set up photos. Some aspects of the kitchen never really worked. The cooker hood packed up a week before Christmas that’s why it’s missing. Drawers to the right of the oven have been particularly annoying because you cannot open the dishwasher and the drawers at the same time. The...

    Kitchen refurbishment on a budget

I'm thinking there might variations between the hinge setups. I'm currently browsing second-hand kitchen online. It might be the way to go for me. I'm going to see if Howdens will supply me with the cupboards I require but they weren't very helpful last time I tried to make enquiries

    Kitchen refurbishment on a budget

Yes sorry about that. I was wondering about getting some fresh cabinets from elsewhere to add to current set but mixing different cabinets from different suppliers seems to be a bad idea. Room is 3800 x 3600. Design is basically L shape along two walls, obviously. The budget isn’t set as yet...

    Kitchen refurbishment on a budget

I’m about to undertake a kitchen refurbishment. It’s ten years since I installed it and now it needs some remodelling. It was a Howdens kitchen so I suppose it makes best sense to use the same again even though Howdens insist they are trade only. I’ll need to get some trades in for some...

    Query about my ground floor.

Appreciate the answers but I’d have preferred one or the other. Working around the solid slabs can be a nuisance. The guy resiting my boiler punched a hole into my loft to accommodate the additional pipework. He boxed over the pipework so I could not see the hole. The bathroom fitters did...

    Query about my ground floor.

My bungalow was built in 1958. Apart from the kitchen and bathroom the floors are suspended timber. Why should the bathroom and kitchen be different?

    Cable help please....

I’m under the impression that it should be 2 core shielded CY cable but what do I know; I’m only a diy nerd.

How To Wire Drayton Wiser 1-Channel Smart Hub to Ideal Logic Max Combi C35 using OpenTherm

No problem. I saw that bit. I’m fine with the wiring bit. N, L, 1 and 3 or maybe remove the 1 and 3 if I go Opentherm.

How To Wire Drayton Wiser 1-Channel Smart Hub to Ideal Logic Max Combi C35 using OpenTherm

I needed this ⬆️ information. I had suspected that only one of the control cables was needed (opentherm or relay switching). What difference does it make if both are connected? I have seen a YouTube video of this where the relay switching wasn’t used. Someone asked why that was the case but...

Upgrading my boiler thermostat. Best option please.

Ended up having to change the backplate because they are slightly different. Works fine. I’ll be connecting the Opentherm when I obtain some suitable 2 core shielded cable. Wiser TRVs will be added over time.

Upgrading my boiler thermostat. Best option please.

Got my Wiser Kit one. Can anyone confirm I just need to move one wire from 2 to 3 for the backplate to accept the Wiser? I know the wires need to come from behind the backplate which the installer evidently didn’t. Current receiver is a ESRTP4RF+. I would have liked to connect up the opentherm...
