    Replacing Electric Shower

As stated you should be ok with a B40 Amp MCB. Also is this MCB closest to your main red switch on the CU? If its rated at 9.5Kw @ 230v AC I might go to a higher rating MCB.

    Domestic electrical faults electricians encounter?

I don't think it matters if the rats are damp or dry. They just love to eat cable.

    Learning electrics

Its all up in the air. When our C&G external verifier came to our college he explained that it would be hard for people to become an electrician without completing an apprenticeship. The last reg date for the 2330 is Mar 2011, so the course will officially end in mar 2012. You could start...

    Learning electrics

The government will no longer be paying college to run this course. Even as an adult learner the government normally cover 50% of the course fee paid directly to the college. They are taking away the funding to colleges will not run the course anymore.

    Learning electrics

I was told by the C&G themselves that the 2330 L2 and L3 is no longer going to be funded. Taken from IET site: At the end of February this year, the government published a list of "non-priority" courses. Amongst these courses were the 2330, both levels. This meant that colleges could no...

    Learning electrics

Don't take my exact word for it, there will still be routes. Visit a college and speak with an advisor. I just don't know how many hoops you will have to jump through. It helps if you are also quite good at maths as the courses are quite math and calculation orientated. Myy course...

    Learning electrics

Its hard at the moment for you as the course's are changing. Last year I would have said start 2330 L2. There is no point in doing that no, I'm 99% sure that the new qualification requires elements of work based inspections of work. I also believe that its 100% theory as well. This is...

    Learning electrics

I think it would be best to visit your local college or training college. They can guide you. How old are you? could you go to the careers advice centre?

    Learning electrics

Take a look here for the modules of the 2330, we use this as a revision guide and from this you can gauge how the course is structured. http://www.swindon-massive.co.uk/electrical/revision/2360pt1/assessment_choices.html I'm currently on the 2330 L2 and L3 programme (just finished L2)...

    Very Dangerous (looking back)

I did some silly things, things I look back now and think I should be dead. I once took apart a plug, took the 3 brass pins out and then plugged them in separately in a wall socket. I put the earth in ok, neutral in ok then put the live in with my bare hands and got a massive belt. I have...

    Atom Kablo brand

I used some cable recently that had so much talc inside that I was covered in the stuff after only stripping back cable for 4 sockets (ring) and a FCU. It made the cable really hard to work with as the CPC was literally falling out of the outer insulation whilst stripping.

Should electric sockets be mounted under boilers??

Just also make a note of checking your boiler paperwork, some boilers need a clear unobstructed gap under the boiler for maintenance and part changing. I know of a few boilers where condensate trap needs about 150-200mm for the trap to be taken out and cleaned on the service.
