Coal Bunker - New Frame - What paint - Timber Treatment?

I like bedec for surfaces that have potential for problems and don't need to be aesthetically bang on. Barn paint is really good and so is their MSP. Both suitable for the doors and the walls. I don't do a lot with staining and oiling but my preference is the two coat sikkens system. You...

Breeze Block Outline Appears Through Painted Wall

Yep your second post i think is the reason. Is it possible to install insulated plasterboard ? I'd say if you line it you will probably have to use a thermal liner. BTW by PVA ing it you've made things worse, unfortunately you've fallen victim to a common fallacy. Plenty of posts on here about it

Water based paints over oil based

Acrylic primer undercoat would be best over well prepared surface. You can use higher grades of wet n dry as they remove the sheen fairly easily. 180 would be fine in wet n dry or silicon carbide (which is the between coats stuff). There's also aluminium oxide but i only use it on runs and sags...

Best paint for stairs, landing and main bedroom?

You could ask, i think it can vary from store to store, i get a discount but i buy a lot of it. Thing is superdon consider the longevity and quality of the paint as well as the washability and its not a horrendous price, it will outlast any standard matt emulsion.

Best paint for stairs, landing and main bedroom?

I agree with Emily, pound for pound the LG doesn't work out that expensive. It thins very well and coverage is superior to the major brands. Its washable which means extended maintenance cycles and the pigment is of a far higher quality and density. Compared against Dulux diamond matt (which...

Best product and method to fill fine plaster cracks?

Could be worth adding a drop of water to the filler?, those pre mixed can dry out a bit over time. Spot priming with gardz may well stop the crazing but at the end of the day its a PITA and easier to change brands.

HELP - Covering knots in pine before varnish

Only real option if you don't want to replace them with oak would be to do a faux finish, but it takes skill and some specialist tools. There are guys out there that do it and you'd never know it was fake.

Best product and method to fill fine plaster cracks?

Paul are you spot priming the filler? Sounds like the filler is drawing too much water out the paint Used to use red devil but i hate the smell when rubbing it down and airborne particles seem "fluffy" and easily and uncomfortably ingested (yes i should be waring a mask). As a fine surface...

Can I use this varnish to protect emulsion?

There's a reason why there's a difference in price between the polyvine and the wilco. Consider the cost of the wilco failing and you soon realise that using good quality products are often cheaper. Its only about £10-12 i think for the polyvine, a little goes a long way.

Pigment Code For Flagon Green (Crown Period Range)

Crown should be able to mix the colour up in acrylic eggshell which is ideal for kitchens.

New Plaster Problem - help needed please!

Make sure he fits the handle before you challenge him! If you're going to show these comments to him then please add my weight in agreement to what Mr H, Boss white and GTH have said. Its very poor what he's done but time and time again one reads and hears of PVA being used wrongly. I also...

Have Dulux scrapped their Diamond Satinwood paint range?

They may have done as a quick google search doesn't turn up much, this looks like new old stock http://www.tools-paint.com/dulux-trade-diamond-satinwood-tinted-colours-25-litres-14864-p.asp?gclid=CjwKEAiAmaanBRCIt4364e2d6yUSJAA9VXTUS9WvySiF-fkhc8i7Ocd86hxSw9ued0PWsXrDNJOy6hoCx8nw_wcB The...

    oil paint yellowing

You need to give them a thorough rub down, light won't cut it when moving from oil to water based. It won't bleed through. You don't need to u/c satin just two or three coats, but u/c does tend to be cheaper. Have been using the dulux today, although not bad the sikkens satura BL is still the...

Farrow and Ball estate emulsion advice please

Your welcome, its rumoured that johnstones have the F&B codes so can produce the colours quite accurately but i'm not sure about the durability, the LG really is good.

Farrow and Ball estate emulsion advice please

Estate emulsion is not washable and is one of the least durable paints on the market. Their modern emulsion has a higher vinyl content so a bit more durable. Little green intellimatt would be a good choice, washable and similar colour palette and finish to F&B. Painting the sills - nope will...
