Big House - What heating configuration??

Can put you onto a firm that will design you all sorts, but especially an air duct system that links to a twin coil exchanger for boiler and a/c. All you have is little downlighter size efforts and you get 'seemless' heating/cooling. Can be linked to solar or gshp if needed. Wonderful stuff.

    speedfit and compression

Easier to get the olive over the cheapy insert as opposed to the superseal. Whose are the copper inserts?

Is this a fair price for a new boiler?

Boiler and flue, 8xTRV4s, Hydroflow, wireless progstat, fused spur? gas line upgrade? 5x5m+ tubes, fittings, chemicals, consumables, making good? gravity colds to link? etc etc. At least 3K fromwhere I'm sitting- with the vat mind- you're bargain basement Tony!

Does ECV mean emergency cut - off valve?

I wonder if the user name 'Pedantic' is available? C= control!

    I am a fool

PRV on the combi valve of Vaillants Unistor is held on by a teeny weeny grub screw- which I taped to the side of the cylider so not to lose it. Didn't lose it- but didn't fit it either. At least I was in the house when it blew. Was looking across the hall and out of a window thinking, 'My...

    Ecotec F.75.

This problem appears to have reared its head again on another Ecotec, a system this time. Had only been commissioned for a few weeks when the customer phoned me with F.75. I even didn't bother looking and referred him straight to Vaillant. They came out (promptly) and changed what I believe to...

Building Regs question for new boilers

But if the system complies to regs then it has an auto bypass and there is no need to have a bathroom without a trv. I'm amazed at how much 'resistance to change' there is in this industry- there're lots of people out there who need to get with the beat!

Building Regs question for new boilers

Building regs certainly do require that sleeping areas are zoned (for heat) seperately for a new or replacement boiler. It doesn't have to be TRV's but in most homes its the simplest way. Oh and for me- hallway is the very best place for the roomstat!

    Gas leak detectors.

Looks like I've had a duff one from the start. Will send it off and have it checked. Thanks gents.

    Gas leak detectors.

I take it that you guys don't get the problem of it screeching at something one minute- then not and then screeching at something else that didn't affect it before etc etc etc?

    Gas leak detectors.

Well chaps I do just that, but it will indicate a leak say at a fitting, then when you try it again it says not. Then it will do the same on another one. Drives me mad, I can only assume I had a lemon from day one because its never been any different.

    Gas leak detectors.

I've got one of the TPI ones with the goose neck. Its three years old now and frankly its been as useful as a chocolate tea pot. Either I've been doing something wrong or its kwap. Today, could smell gas from beneath a hob and drop test told me it was after the iso valve. So, having pulled the...

    Central heating not hot enough!!

I think the 837's were factory set at about 20KW on the CH side. Vailant say as it modulates so there's no need to range rate downwards (although the outdated requirement to do so is recognised). So if your flow temp is there and your pump is ok, then balancing and then system design would be my...

regs on copper pipe under floor

BoxB, he said flow and return to a rad- they can go in the screed and wrapped or coated copper is fine. Its all t'other water that has to be ducted (or pip).

regs on copper pipe under floor

Central heating (secondary circuit) pipes can go in the screed as long as protected against corrosion, ie Denso'd.

    Ecotec F.75.

For those who were interested. Vaillant sorted it under warranty today without a quibble. Apparently the pump had failed and the 'LW' switch was replaced. Pump to be sent away for testing allegedly. Hope this was a rogue and the Ecotec isn't going to be troublesome.

    Ecotec F.75.

Wasn't meaning to be difficult Tony, just wanted to know if anyone had experienced this fault code on an Ecotec as I haven't and perhaps I could save the customer waiting for Vaillant if it was something really simple that he could try. Anyway, it says 'No sudden change in pressure detected at...

    Ecotec F.75.

Air was my first thought in view of the first turn on of the ch- in the pump perhaps, but otherwise unless someone has shut the AAV and the bypass since I commissioned it air shouldn't be the problem.

    Plumbing tool - pipe expander?
