should gas hob have isolation valve?

Agas, they came out to service the boiler 3 mths ago when I had the kitchen in pieces and I asked them to fit the new hob when the room was done so they cut off the existing tap and put an end cap over the pipe coming from the wall into the base unit ready for when the hob was ready to fit ie...

should gas hob have isolation valve?

could have done the pipework on this in 20mins myself. I cant do gas tests or test for leaks apart from lighting a match nor am I allowed to do any of the work anyway so I do the proper thing and get proper people and pay through the nose for it only to find they've broken their own rules. What...

should gas hob have isolation valve?

yes you're right, my missus suggested check with gas safe which I've now done and yes the hob should have means of isolation so we have a firm here who have charged me £140 to connect two 5" lengths of 15mm copper tube to 3 compression fittings with assoc gas test checks yet they havnt provided...

should gas hob have isolation valve?

apart from the main gas shut off should a gas hob have its own isolation valve? We've had a new gas hob connected up by a gas safe guy and there is no isolation valve but there was a valve to the original hob in the pipework feeding it. I just let him get on with the job and have now noticed...

New Wooden Headboard Needs Split In 2 Professionally, Joiner Or DIY?

looking at your pics of the cut pieces - why is half the top rail hollow and the other half filled with timber? or am I looking at it wrong. Given there is a hollow core, you need to get this bit 100% bang on or you'll end up with something that will never be right. The lower rail is less of an...

    Smart meters?

I'll have one last go at this - I got a smart meter to tell me how much energy I'm using not whether I'm using it or not - the latter I can work out myself. I, like probably most other people, don't know how much gas a CH boiler uses - I know it uses gas when its on but not how much. It seems...

    Foreigners and the NHS

as per woodbines post, we probably coped pre EU by being able to produce enough home grown nurses to meet demand not to mention demand on the NHS then was less. I think its fair to say that workers from the EU contribute a hell of alot to our economy. If they are now leaving en masse then thats...

    Volvo V70 D5 (2003) Diagnostic Device

I was going to buy one of these a couple of yrs ago (D5) one thing that put me off is that some parts are coded to the chassis apparently so making using secondhand parts tricky...I would be very pleased to be proved wrong on this as this vehicle is still on my radar:)

New Wooden Headboard Needs Split In 2 Professionally, Joiner Or DIY?

hopefully I've followed this thread enough to comment but if you are adding a length of timber to the rear of a rail to enable the frame to be put back together solidly, make sure you have a nice long piece of wood (18" either side of the join at least) of a thick section that wont flex and use...

    Smart meters?

Ross, late last year so not long. I know I started running round switching lights off when it was first connected up then realised that switching lights off hardly made any difference and that it was the CH boiler and tumble drier that mounted up fast. I know every little thing adds up but I'm...

    Smart meters?

I'm struggling to work out why there are some people that think others dont think energy costs moneyo_O A discussion of the accuracy of these gizmos would be helpful! I have always qualified my support of smart meters be saying assuming they are accurate. We had a water meter installed 3 yrs...

What is it with this site?

its a great site - I'd be lost without it as I DIY everything apart from gas safe and some electrics..... there should be a sub to pay for joining. Busy forums always have long standing members with huge post count.... probably the type of responses they sometimes give wouldnt have been given in...

    Smart meters?

EFL Ok, yes I can research how much each appliance costs to run either precisely or on average. I then would need to keep a record of how long each appliance is being used for if I am putting this data to best use - am I right is saying this is the method I should use in order to not use a smart...

    Smart meters?

I would suggest the average person doesnt have a clue as to what appliance costs what to run precisely, all they have is the STO going out each month for gas and electric. Yes most people know electric heaters eat electric but if you stop 10 people in the street and ask them how much their...
