So when you say a small pilot drill what sort of width are you talking? I guess this is less prone to creating damage on the outside brick face? A long drill it would be needed too?

Boom! Great technique. Thanks for that tip. Yes, cavity. Really appreciate that tip. So a 20mm drill bit with what approx length is good to have for the job?

    Outdoor socket

I now have the outside socket. The ultimate preference would be to drill from the outside inwards but I’m guessing this option isn’t quite as easy as the inside socket (the one that will be spurred off) is already fitted so it’ll be tricky to locate easily. Any tips on this please? I guess that...

Thanks for those suggestions. It sounds like there are perhaps a few options that will be available then.

    Fitting sleepers

Thanks for the tips and advice. This might be a silly question but any idea how to tell if they are retaining anything? I do live uphill from the work so yes, there will be my garden back filled to it but there are a row of conifers that I’m working towards and the exiting disintegrated sleepers...

    Fitting sleepers

They are pretty much disintegrate and it would be nice to bring them up slightly higher for a neat finish.

    Fitting sleepers

I’ve had a builder round to look at digging out some sleepers (Approx 9 long) along the back of my garden. He quoted 3 days work at £1200, £250 for a skip plus cost of materials. At this sort of price I can’t afford it and will need to do it myself I think. Other than a lot of hard work and...

    Repointing

Ahh brilliant, that’s. And they fit on an angle grinder fine do they? What size bucket handle should I use to finish with? They seem to come in a range of sizes.

    Guttering advice

Using which brands/shape of gutter? What sort of fall do you aim for? Do you use unions in place of a bracket?

Perfect, thanks. I think a 4:1 sand cement mix is probably about right too. Thanks.

    Guttering advice

Which brand? I’ve spent the whole day (annual leave) to redo a 13m run of floplast ogee and now I’ve finished it, it’s still leaking. I’m so annoyed with it tbh.

    Guttering advice

Has anyone used FreeFlow guttering? Is it any good do you know? I saw it in a local suppliers and it looked like the seals on the unions were a lot better the ones I’ve got in my FloPlast so wondering if these will be better and less prone to leaks.

    Guttering advice

Thanks. Yeah I know what you mean. The uPVC stuff isn’t great is it. I’m guessing the steel guttering is quite a bit more expensive and quite different looking. Adding this style guttering onto white fascia boards might not look too I keeping I wouldn’t have thought.

They are next to each other mounted side by side horizontally. Currently have 12 breakers being used in each.

    Guttering advice

Yeah, I’ve been tempted to silicone them up but wondering if switching brand and refitting is going to be a better, cleaner and longer term solution. Yes, I used silicone spray on the rubbers before reassembling them.

Thanks for that, that’s great. Yes, I agree that the single RCD is not great but it’s something we’ve got used to. We’ve got two boards so at least if one trips there’s the other still in operation. Not ideal but without spending a lot of money I guess it’s fine for now. Budgeting for it to be...

The circuit doesn’t have an RCBO on the board but there is a breaker to the right of it that protects it. Eg... the main switch is an RCD breaker. Photo attached.
