    Nest Wiring issues 3rd Generation

Seems crystal clear to me. If the Heatlink 3 is permanently Live with nothing connected to it, as you say that’s where the problem lies.

    Nest Wiring issues 3rd Generation

If the Heatlink terminal 3 is still permanently Live with its wire removed the problem is with the Nest itself.

    Nest Wiring issues 3rd Generation

You are correct that terminal 3 should only be Live when heating is called for. I would be inclined to temporarily disconnect the wire from that terminal and then see if the heating remains On or goes Off. It’s possible there is a wiring problem somewhere and the wire you remove from heat link...

    Worth installing Heat Pump?

Apologies for the thread hijack, but talking of split units which have a fan assisted radiator in the room, would that sort of radiator be a way of coping with the low flow temperatures that heat pumps in general can deliver. There’s been much discussion of how we’d need either very large...

Curious heating behaviour? (boiler does not fire up on demand)

Disable hot water at the programmer and then try increasing the room thermostat temperature to double check that the boiler is still not coming on for heating-only, ie valve at H position. When at H position give the lever some help to go as far as possible in that direction, just in case it's...

Curious heating behaviour? (boiler does not fire up on demand)

Next time the boiler fires up try to check if it is also heating the radiators at the same time, ie the valve in the M position. I suspect it only fires up when in the W or M positions and not the H position. W is water only, H is heating only and M is the mid position for both together.

Curious heating behaviour? (boiler does not fire up on demand)

Are you getting plenty of hot water in the cylinder so the problem is purely with central heating? One possibility is that the only time your heating is working is when the hot water cylinder is also asking for the boiler to fire up. If this is the case it would often indicate a problem with...

Rads getting hotter and hotter regardless of thermostat

Sorry, I missed the bit where you said that with everything switched off the actuator wasn't closing. Is that still the case when the power to the boiler (ie the whole system) is switched OFF? If it doesn't then the problem is with the actuator. If it does close with power OFF does it then...

Technical solution for Zoning of hybrid heating installation...?

There’s lots of discussion on Evohome topics in the Automated Home forums, http://www.automatedhome.co.uk/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?13-Heating-Control Should find some interesting threads there and a good place to get help and advice with an installation.

Rads getting hotter and hotter regardless of thermostat

The problem is almost certainly with the thermostat. The fact that turning the programmer to OFF halted the heating suggests the the thermostat is communicating ok with the receiver unit at the boiler end so I’m not sure what the problem might be, just that the actuator is simply doing what it...

    Actuator

No it is not stuck and is opening and closing when the system is powered on and off. It sounds like the acuator is opening because it's getting switched on by something else in the system, possibly a problem with the room thermostat not switching off.

    Vaillant Ecotec Plus 428 S53

I just think that an occasional influx of cold water at the return while the flow is at a high temp should be an expected event and the Vaillants could at least allow a little more time before deciding there's possibly a fault. I'd really like to know if the more recent versions of this boiler...

    Vaillant 824 bypass valve

Are there valves or filters in the flow and return pipes directly under the boiler?

    Vaillant Ecotec Plus 428 S53

When I was previously using a raspberry pi and ebusd software to boost the flow temperature of the boiler for DHW, I experimented with dropping the flow temp dramatically for a few seconds when heating demand suddenly occurred. Unfortunately, before I could get the boiler to flame off, the 3...

    Vaillant Ecotec Plus 428 S53

I have a VR65 in between the cylinder stat and the boiler which triggers DHW demand by ebus commands. Fortunately when DHW is satisfied the boiler doesn’t ever seem to drop straight into Heating mode without several seconds of no flame. This allows the very hot water in the boiler time to...

    Replacing Honeywell D40 with BEOK313WIFI

The online installation manual is poor IMHO. I'd make sure the unit was in manual mode (ie we aren't relying on the timer) as in the instructions. Then use the up button to select a high room temperature. I'd then expect either 1 or 2 to become live. TBH I'm not sure which if any. If you...

    Vaillant Ecotec Plus 428 S53

Eventually solved this with an extra relay to give DHW priority, ie to remove any Heating demand while the cylinder stat is calling for heat. There is now sufficient delay at the end of a DHW run for the boiler contents to be flushed through before it fires up again for heating. I wonder has...

VR65/VR66 for HW flow temp control

I used one of these to link to the boiler ebus using raspberry pi USB port. https://www.esera.de/shop/en/products/ebus/135/ebus-coupler-usb Then run ebusd software on the pi, which handles the sending and receiving of data on the bus in the correct format. https://github.com/john30/ebusd/wiki...
