Heritage Glastonbury exposed thermostatic shower - started squealing

Great - thanks. FYI - the original valve was swapped due to a leak not squealing. The new value has worked fine since until the squealing began a couple of weeks ago. I had suspected contamination but does not occur everytime hence my suggest that something is sticking. When you say "good...

Heritage Glastonbury exposed thermostatic shower - started squealing

Morning It's a lot like that one but with a traditional tap. We had a new valve (brass valve which handle connects to) fitted while it was under warranty/guarantee. Looks like an over-sized tap valve. Reading the manual, it suggests you can unscrew the valve to do some maintenance. Is there...

Heritage Glastonbury exposed thermostatic shower - started squealing

Hi, Had an Heritage Glastonbury exposed thermostatic shower - it's a wall-hung mixer tap!! Fitted for quite some time - long enough to be out of warranty!!! Typically, it's now started making a squealing noise while in use. Not always probably every other time it's used. Seems to be a case of...

BEKO DW603 dishwasher - continuous humming noise (cycle doesn't end)

Swapped the pump out for a bulb to test if any power is being sent to drain pump. Ran P2 programme twice. Bulb did not light during either cycle and both cycles completed. Could not drain as pump was not connected. Note: put direct power to pump and drained fine. Power does not appear to be...

BEKO DW603 dishwasher - continuous humming noise (cycle doesn't end)

Pump runs fine on bench although possibly noisy (both sure how long it runs during normal operation). Have also tested the float switch for continuity. Moving the float up and down, clicks the switch and the continuity moves between from one terminal to another. Assumption is that power is not...

BEKO DW603 dishwasher - continuous humming noise (cycle doesn't end)

Base tray removed and dried. All pipe connections seem firm and dry. Leak seemed to be coming from the drain pump connection to the sump. Pump removed and o-ring, etc. look intact. No sign of blockage, drain flap moving freely, drain pipe clear. Ran pre-rinse cycle which seemed to run fine...

BEKO DW603 dishwasher - continuous humming noise (cycle doesn't end)

Sorry - seems to be a lot of similar posts but not a lot of detail provided. Beko dw603 diswasher - 3.5 years old and ran fine until yesterday. Ran usual cycle but noted unusual/continuous sound of (drain) pump. Switched off and inspected. Dishes were mostly clean but water found in sump...

    Beko dw603 dishwasher

Nickyboy Hopeless - which pipe (and end) are you referring to? Am I right to assume you're referring to the non-machine end of the flexible waste pipe? Obviously our dishwasher is now displaying the same symptoms. Worked fine until this evening.

    Hygroscopic salt(?) stain

Thanks - that's what I figured. The ventilation should help rather than hinder. The remaining question what we can do inside. Namely, is there a way of stopping the stain (i.e. is there a suitable product that works?!?)

    Hygroscopic salt(?) stain

Hi, Looking for advice with a Hygroscopic salt(?) stain. It does not seem to get worse/larger but reappears after decorating (painting). The facts: Property is brick Victoria-era (mid 1880s) There are no issues with flaking paintwork, white fluff/salt tide marks - just a reappearing stain...

Looking for smoke alarm with 120mm+ diameter base

Moved into a property that has a papered hallway and landing ceiling. Stuck to the papered ceiling are two old smoke detector bases - measuring 120mm diameter. I've tried to remove a base but gave up as its clear it will result in some/all of the paper being damaged/removed. Plan B is to try...

    Samsung UE55KU6000 TV screen

Gutted as it may be approaching 2-years old but its barely been used. I doubt you could get a faultly TV in better condition!!!! ;) I hate seeing things go to landfill. I may have to consider the gum tree option but put mine up for sale! (Not before I've had a nosey for any for sale thought)

    Samsung UE55KU6000 TV screen

Arrived home tonight to discover that my 3-1/2 year old son has managed to strike our TV screen with a wooden handle - crunch!!! Is the TV now destined for the dustbin or is it actually possible to economically repair. Excuse my ignorance: It's a Samsung UE55KU6000 LED TV flat screen, 2 year old.

Velux window - how wide can I go?

My assumption is/was that: custom=expensive (although better end result) while off the peg = less expensive (although you have to base work on standard size units). Also, off the peg offers a broader level of support/spares. Is this not the case?

Velux window - how wide can I go?

Hi, Not really got any photos to hand (as currently working away from home until Thursday). You'll have to excuse my lack of info/clarity. A new roof and roof windows is a new area for me. I'm just a DIYer looking to do a bit of research/planning ahead of talking to my usual builder. The...

Velux window - how wide can I go?

Looking to cover an existing passageway which runs between ours and the neighbouring property. The passageway consists of brickwork along both sides and one end. Our intention is to create a pitch roof with velux (or similar) roof windows. The roof will be finished with flat tiles. The...

Where to buy 18" traditional frieze?

Having checked out their prices, I am tempted to rename this post "Where can I buy an affordable alternative to lincrusta?" I have just short of 20 metres of wall so £500+ for paper alone (ouch!)
