Looking at a gutter at 5 m. So a good three rungs above would do for our house. I.e., 6.3m
So ladders sold at 6.3m for instance the young man trade 200.
Is it literally 6.3 m long or do they allow access to that height when at the correct angle?
Ok. So not sure if I should start a new thread as it's a new question really, but from the same project...
Thanks to input so far I am clear on the following..
5" X 2" rafters will probably do fine. Roofs are more complicated than I thought.
A sloping wall plate is beyond my skill and I think...
Thanks all.
What a minefield!
Was thinking of twinwall polycarbonate as might look neater and less Hillbilly than the corrugated. Last longer too?. A none square layout with changing pitch would almost certainly be a disaster for me with twinwall as I appreciate the corrugated is a tad more...
Thanks for your input. :D
I struggle to get my head around the appearance of a sloping wall plate as it is very much on show to the road side our place being semi detached on street corner .If understand you correctly we could instead slope the horizonal that the joists rest on at the eaves end...
Blimey.... hadn't even thought of that... ( Pitch paradox)... Just saved me some time and money there. Thanks. Most of what I make is a bit heath Robinson meets Beverly Hillbillies. Reckon ?.. I could make it square with the minimum 3m depth to start with where the gutter up against fence, then...

Can anyone please advise on timber sizes?
Not sure of...
Nope.
Ringbarking kills trees by removing the bark and insodoing the water transportation. Trees live with hollow centres- no wood in the centre but a healthy transportation/ bark layer.
You will need a fresh cut bark in water solution to the problem. Bucket?
I have a wallet with built in whatnot. Suspect it is mylar. .. Tap wallet over cashier's scanner. .. nowt. Remove card from wallet and wave card over, beep. So I say it works. Never seen anyone dicking about with foil ....
Further to my other post about digging a trench for laying a new water pipe...
I was looking at options for using a mole/boring service.
Seems they give a price which includes a few pits for where the mole hits a big rock and they have to dig down and remove it- we'll have plenty of them...
My wife could not wait to send me a text today while I was at work to say our water bill was a few quid less than £1000.
Should have been around half that....
Stopcock off, water meter still spinning. Not a shared supply. = Leak!
Measured the leak as approx 107 litres an hour, which is about...
I suspect you are right... and they did noticeably seem to stiffen up even more after day 2 or 3. That said by the time I was tightening the turnbuckles the posts started to deflect all of.......about 9mm.....
But then part of the issue was the constant loading (without) the cross member across...
