    whats the wall like on the otherside? does it need attention ? i would look into finding some way of stopping the damp that way before seeing to the inside . i would tank the bottom of the wall,batten over the top,attach a damp proof membrane,and maybe install moisture resistant plasterboard ...

    PVA or not onto Bonding?

    dont quite understand what you mean by using pva over the bonding,pva is the bonding eh ?never used bonding coat myself . in my experience some backgrounds need a few coats of bonding.apply the pva and leave for five min,if it goes dry quickly,apply another coat.idealy the pva should be tacky...
