    Earthing a chrome light switch?

It won't have a green/yellow core, unless it's flex, in which case you shouldn't use it for this. It'll have a copper earth wire in the middle, which you can sleeve green and yellow with some earth sleeve / "green" sleeving. It's always a good idea to add a bit of cable between, for when people...

    Cooker hood install

Or if you really want to hide a socket, use a 5 amp unfused one - no point though really! What sort of tech are ya chap?

    Broadband drop-out when phone rings

You might have hit across the problem with having two master sockets here, especially if one is an adsl master splitter - do you use the bt master socket at all? Have you just connected 2 and 5 to the input terminals on the splitter socket, and nothing else?

    mp3 player

The Ipod is the only one to have really, get the largest classic if you have plenty of music, or the 8GB nano if it's just to listen to whilst out and about. The docking station is well worth having, get the universal one rather than the nano one if buying a nano, as then if you change the ipod...

    Intermediate neon switch

I don't think he means for you to join together the live, switched live and earth, that's just silly...., just that having an earthed wire laying in between the live and switched live (as when using twin and earth or three core and earth for lighting) will quell the inductive effect that he's on...

    Shaver sockets

You know that you shouldn't do this anyway, it can look a right mess if the plate won't go right back to the tile.

comsumer unit advice for a 110v system

Working for a firm that uses a lot of DC power, my only thought on that is not to attempt to wire something at that sort of voltage DC unless you know exactly what you are doing, and have the right switchgear etc. - as in comments above, the best way to do this, in the UK, is just to invert upto...

    Chattering wipers

I quite like the motaquip ones, they are cheap and work properly unlike the new champion ones (the old champion ones were spot on) - they are OE on Peugeots.

    Mondeo uneven tyre wear

It's no design fault, it'll just need new wishbones, or new compliance bushes in the existing wishbones - try fordpartsuk for a decent price on them, and be thankful it's not an ST200....

    Fiesta starter problem

It's not a starter problem then! Tried changing plugs and leads? Checked that all the electrical connections in the engine bay are clean and tight - especially the ones to do with the electronic ignition on this engine (HCS lump, same as the KaKa)

I'm still wondering how you are going to explain the topology argument - a tree structure vs a ring?

Help - Fitted New Phone Ext, But Phone Won't Ring

Have you connected two wires or three? Have you actually wired an extension or just used a bodge it and stodge it kit from homebase?

Sorry, that's what I meant, no longer have sports or movies (since the day sky dropped the £10 charge for sky plus!) so forgot that bit!!

Drum on wheel cannot be removed

And if you do chew it up, find an imperial socket of a similar size (will almost always be a gnats smaller), and hammer it onto the chewed up nut, then take it off - if it still won't come off you'll need a welder. A good tip for wheelnuts (useless for this sit., but worth mentioning) is to...

    new sky box

You don't necessarily have to phone sky to pair a standard sky box - a full system reset achieves the same thing (holding down a couple of buttons, google should tell you which ones) (but you do have to phone them to pair sky plus, otherwise you can only record FTV)

    10.8 kw shower cable size

Surely the rated tripping current is considered to be 45A, in that any load above 45A runs some risk of tripping the breaker, regardless of whether it actually ever does? A better expression might be rated design current I suppose?
