    Dont use builders sand use washed plastering sand as builders sand has traces of clay in it. You can knock it up in a mixer but do not over mix.

    The mix for scrach coat should be 4-1 washed sand and NHL3.5 hydraulic lime. The finish coat should be 5-1 washed sand and NHL3.5 hydraulic lime. There is no need to use cement with this type of lime. You can use a small amount of additive if you wish.
