    It might be the hinges need to be tightened. Just have a check around the hardware as well. Bit of wd on the hinges and lock helps to keep them free and working.

    Set a false front back 5mm Off your plaster line using a hardboard template of the infill area and use expanding foam. The template is simply a paper tracing of your damaged area.Simply easyfill over the false front flush with the wall. If not nice skirting boards would be a whole lot easier.

    Sorry Alan, just think of the amount of brownie points you will have once it’s done properly. I can tell you as an apprentice the one job you didn’t want was stripping that was before the use of stripping machines. Luxury! It will be worth it.
