Is it ok to use strongboy props on the first floor to create an opening coming off existing floor joists or is it better to go from ground level with longer props?

problem is its a 3 storey house so will the driving rain at the 3rd storey not just run down to ground floor level and out the weep holes

I am building 2 storey rear extension, i currently have 2.4m patio door with cavity tray and weep holes above to external wall, once built this will become an internal wall should i remove the cavity tray to prevent water from entering the property ?
