    fining down is a smooth render top coat round our way rc,and yes the top coat is ruled as should the scratch,without an edge it will be siht!,if you see a spread free hand smooth render its cause he cant use an edge,gives em away every time,that and no float but loads of sponge :roll:

    wet dash is a mix of stone and whatever your using,as you know,a lot of spreads get mixed up and have to much compo in the stone then throw like its a separate coat,its not its just a finish to the buttercoat,the stone should be covered but not thick with gear.

    i've soot stained myself,under instruction of my old guv,he was a good old spread,dead now god bless him,the soot went in the mix to bring down the colour in tyrolean when we were patching an matching,it does actually work! nowt you can do with dry work though
