How many people have the better mcb screwdriver ???

I think it was more that with a Philips/pozi/straight driver they can slip out of the mcb fuses screw. Dont get that with the above.

Advice: Approach with Neighbours re: Tree

I have phoned my council to check if there was any TPO's on 2 oaks in my back garden & all they wanted was house number & post code & they came back & said no tpo's within 500 met of that address. They normally have to be very old & big. Also, dont worry about the leaves. I find it best to wait...

Glow worm 30sxi main heat exchanger just packed up so looking for a new system boiler for 12 rads & 200lt water tank

Glow worm 30sxi main heat exchanger packed up & £600 + fitting to repair, it's time for a new boiler. I was looking at vissmann, but they want to know the ins & outs of a ducks bum. To save money i wanted to fit it myself & pay a gas engineer to test & certificate it. Any boiler recommendations ??

How's your luck with Premium Bonds?

Got £200 this month "2X100" which puts me on a yearly average 8.2%. better than the banks, plus tax free & a chance of a bigger one. That is with 25k with them. I'm happy. Its quite nice on a win as Alexa wakes up & blows a trumpet & says i have won. Using Bond checker.

Ok, might be less up north. But i assume that's for 2 people. I always had a mate/apprentice/labour with me for doing "In this case" earthing & fetching materials cleaning up after the works are finished. I am also assuming his price includes a test before fitting the new board & extra if faults...

Electricity cables in cavity next to door frame

OK, but if i was the builder i would kick the sparky off site. There are lots of guide lines although not a rule, for good reason. That is just laziness.

    Wiring for oven

Not if run in a wall "like the post is saying" it has a lot less of an amperage rating as any heat cant be disbursed so easily like an open clipped cable that can be classed for a 47 amp rating.

    Wiring for oven

I regularly have my grill & oven on at the same time. Best way to quickly brown things & get great roast potatoes.

Electricity cables in cavity next to door frame

Its not electrical regs, its building regs & bad practice. There is no electrical regulation that forbids an installer installing a cable within a cavity wall. However BS 7671, The Building Regulations 2000 for England and Wales (2004 edition) and Mandatory Standard 3.10 of the Scottish...

    Wiring for oven

Your right on the boarder line at 41.66 amps. 6mm is rated at 41amps. I would run the hob only of the existing 6mm cable "if it is that?" & bring another 2.5twe cable in for the oven 14.54amps & put it on a 20amp fuse with 20 amp switches at the kitchen end "Not fused spurs". Some might say you...

    Wiring for oven

Many hobs are around 6kw-25 amps ovens are max 3kw-12.5amps but quite likely 2kw-8.3amps so hopefully 37.5amps So if you have a 6mm TWE cable coming from the board with a 40amp fuse & on to a 45amp switch in the kitchen that switches an outlet below the worktops, at that point you want to fit a...

Electricity cables in cavity next to door frame

It is totally illegal to run cables in cavity walls as there are still quite a few cavity insulations that dont have a fire ratting. Especially the blown in types. Some do, but many dont.

Remember RCBO's are the best way to go as if one trips its only that circuit. But a normal 12 way board with 2 RCD main switches + 12 fuses is around £70-£80 with fuses. If you want RCBO's add around £200, So £280.00 + sundries @ £100 = £380.00 + a fair £500 labour for 1 days work £880.00 +...

Combi for a sealed system ???

I was just thinking of upgrading my gravity hot water system to a sealed system on tank side of things. Sods law the boiler just packed up & we think it might be the heat exchanger @ around £600 + fitting. Now i cant afford to update everything & was thinking of going down the combi route...

    Lighting circuit spurs

We often on larger jobs 2 plated everything, running live & neutral in & out of the switches & a 3 core & earth to each light. We was covered for most eventuality's. We would also fit 35mm boxes every ware. This made fitting light fittings so much easier with just one cable.
