    imho you'd be better off fitting bath first, sealing it to the wall with silicone, then tile and silicone around again after - double seal achieved.

    Most bar showers have 150mm pipe centers and hw on lhs, so would be a straight swap. Worth checking that the filters on the inlets are clear and that you've got flow on both hot and cold ok first though.

    It certainly needs protection and best allowing for some movement. I would wrap it with pvc tape - spirally wound with 50% overlap is the way... then put pipe insulation around it, then wrap that aswell with pvc tape - 2" tape would be best for this bit.
