pump constantly on even when boiler is off (PICS)

Pump runs for heating and hot water. Power for the pump should come from the boiler if wired correctly to provide 'pump over-run'. - (i.e. after the boiler has been on and the hot water or heating demand is satisfied, the boiler continues to power the pump to get rid of any residual heat in the...

Boiler won't light for central heating.

It it's a y-plan you've got, most likely the 3 port valve. To fault find you really need a multimeter... Check for 240v on the white wire of the 3 port valve. If there is, does the valve 'motor over' to the heating position? If not, it's the synchron motor in the valve. If it does move to the...

    Bath Shower mixer tap

Such as part no. 17853 at BES. http://www.bes.co.uk/ This one's wall mounted but you could probably connect it to 'stubs' of the mixer tap you've already fitted. Or part no. 16933, but that's rather more expensive...

    40mm waste 'Different Fits' ?

Push fit and solvent weld pipes are made of different materials. Being a different size prevents you from using solvent cement on push fit pipe!!

    Worcester Bosch boiler help needed

You may have more success in resetting / re-pairing the 'stat to the receiver if they are close together. Take the 'stat off the wall and place fairly close to receiver then reset. Worth a try :D

    ptfe tape

Agreed. Any sign of ptfe on compression joints makes the installer looks like an amateur. Hate to see it.

New boiler install - Potterton pump too powerful?

You shouldn't have TRV's on every Radiator. One radiator, normally the one in the hallway, should have just standard valves fitted. This is also where your installer should have fitted a room 'stat to provide what's called 'boiler interlock'. I.e. once your home is up to temperature, the room...

    replacing old valves for trv's

Most TRV's are 'bi-directional' now - i.e. can be put on flow or return, but better to be on flow if you can imho

    Connecting a 'Fitting Reducer'

It'll be fine if you use it like you suggested. Put the reducer in the 15mm rad valve connection, but pull it out slightly so that both sides of the olive compress on the 15mm part of the reducer.

Moving gas meter without altering Transco pipe

My met1 has now expired but as I understand it, a RGI with met1 CAN extend service pipework in order to relocate meter. Would normally be done in copper with an secondary Emergency Control Valve fitted just before meter like the existing one is now. I would attach a notice at the new meter...

help plz hanging a rad on a really nice wall

I can't see any normal plasterboard fixings working without coming through the wall to the next room! Is it an option to put lengths of 3x1 timber vertically on the wall in the adjoining room, then screw screws through the plasterboard into the timber from the other side, cutting / filing off...

How do i isolate my boiler?

Just remove the bungs! -as simple as that. Close the drain off valve first of course... sorry - that's obvious. I always remove the bung in the tank first, then the one on the vent, so that water gets drawn in not air down the vent pipe. Hope all goes well!

How do i isolate my boiler?

Hi, With it being an open vent system there won't be any isolation valves on the boiler's flow and return connection. You therefore have the following options:- 1.Turn off the feed FROM the f+e tank (feed and expansion - the smaller of the two storage tanks which would normally be located...
