    Indesit IDL 505 tripping out.

Thanks for your reply. If the door is open I can switch the power on and this is ok. If I shut the door and switch the power on it trips the RCD at the mains board. It is full of water as it tripped during a wash(eco, setting 3) Hope this helps.

    Sewerage Vent Pipe

Read it wrong between sips of tea. Thought it was lead slate around the base of soil pipe and tiles. Now I see the light. He has had trouble with his verges, this is what I meant.

    Sewerage Vent Pipe

With the problems you are having I would certainly get an independent report on your roof. It sounds like incapable roofers to me.

help my wall has been fudged!!!!!!!!!!!

£10 or £100. The question is was it cheap rubbish or expensive rubbish. You dont pay Ford prices if you want Bentley quality. Most landscapers I know use brickies for brickwork, this is certainly not done by a tradesman. So as woody said, what was the quote for and what was expected. Then...

    Underpinning

Back breaking work. typical method is for short sections of underpinning to be carried out one at a time. Depending on how much of the foundation is to be underpinned it may be possible for more than one section to be carried out simultaneously – subject to them being sufficiently remote from...

    Grouting

The first answer is bang on correct. All you need to do. "would like to know how you were going to do it, wearing finger down" Just follow the way explained and you should have no problem. Dont be shy with the amounts you put on, and work it in well.

Can white grouting be used on floor tiles ?

Although I always advise customers against white grout on floors it is personal choice. White grout, as mentioned stains very easily. In a bathroom the oils from the body and bath additives stain the grout. I M O I would use another colour.

Roof tiles are they nailed in or cemented

The overall weather conditions, ie average wind speeds etc should determine which and how many rows of tiles should be secured(although this is rarely taken into account by some roofers) All perimeter tiles should be nailed. All tiles as previously mentioned should have nibs to hook over batons...

    Roof Verge

First of all I would get a local roofing company in to inspect and photograph the fixings. Marley will not come out unless there is a possibility of defective goods. The builders will try and blame the inspectors as they will have signed it off as finished to standards required. The probable...

    cutting wall tiles

You can get a wet cutter for around £40. Although B&Q do one on a stand with the cutter on a slide runway for £99. Pretty good for DIY. The manual slide cutters are good for straight cuts and quicker. For drilling perfect holes you can get a set of core bits for around £120+. These tools will...

    Slate Roof

If your house was built for slates, do not put concrete tiles up. Apart from looking vile they will be too heavy for the timbers. Not always the case. It is wise to check the load capacity of the timbers, but usually it will be ok. Sometimes cost is a priority and the cost of tiles is a...

PVC sheeting to protect facia from rainwater damage?

. The gutters will have been set with an adequate fall originally otherwise previous owners since 1930`s would have had them sorted. The guy who mentioned felt is wrong, unless the property has been re-roofed. Felt was not used when originally built. Cast iron gutters suffer badly at the back...

    Wall Tie Replacement

All in all, wall ties are necessary. If they need replacing then it should be done. They are there for a reason and if they are not performing there reason for existence then that is it. Load spreads at 45 degrees so the weight is spread throughout the structure.

can i dot n dab plasterboard over bathroom tiles ????

There is not a problem with d & D imo. As long as the tiles are firmly fixed and you use pva first it shouldnt be a problem. Put a bit of sand in the pva for extra adhesion.
