    London cyclists dropping like flies

Did anyone ever reply to my earlier point regarding the natural extension of the cycle plates/tax 'logic'? (other than to call me silly) If you treat cycles as a vehicle that need to be registered, plated and taxed, Then therefore that logic must extend to all non-motorised vehicle that will...

This is quite possibly the most rediculously circular argument on the internet. If it is, that'd be a spectacular achievement.

Arsearle, Now you're just ignoring what I've already said: Google streetview was before they put the signs in, yes the signs are there. I don't know why you say "no visability", the visability is excellent. Contrary to.your beleif, drivers don't have a right of way to run over more...

Unfortunately Arsearle doesn't help dismiss the the stereotype of the "lycra clad cycle nazi." The bulk of cyclists are actually very reasonable. As usual it's a small minority that tatter the image, Much like motorcyclists*. Or van drivers**. Or hot-hatch drivers***. *yeah ok, I...

    Minimum shower enclosure ceiling clearance?

Short space. I recently installed a shower enclosure through an opening of 2.1 with the shower door + tray giving about 150mm clearance. The ceiling in the shower is 2.3m up; moisture board, artex with tiling running all the way up, plastic coving and lots of bathroom paint and siliconed...

Arsearle, You still haven't bothered to look on Google maps then... Tell you what, I've cycled and driven that route for years, you haven't; We'll agree to disagree.

So ASearle, is it your honest opinion that unless a cycle route is perfect for mile upon mile, cyclists should instead select a more dangerous alternative? (i.e. The road)

Motorists have already paid for highways too, Then they receive an.additional spurious tax running an internal combustion engine, This charge is based on engine size.or co2 emissions. Lets apply this to non-ICE transport, Walking = 0cc, 0 engine emissions, Same for cycling, Free you...

Not forgetting again that general taxation funds highways spending, therefore cyclists DO pay for the roads they use... If I pay more general tax than you does that make me any more entitled?

    London cyclists dropping like flies

It is marvellous. To repeat myself; eco cars and historic vehicles pay zero tax. 125cc m/c's only pay about £15. Do you believe, if there wasn't a massive public backlash* they could get away with charging any more than a token £5? *remember the pasty tax. Do parents have to tax their...

Who's subsidising me? I pay the road tax on 6 vehicles! I'm a massive petrol head. (well, the van is diesel...) I rarely cycle, if I do it's for pleasure rather than transport (i.e. Getting muddy somewhere). But I do respect that to some people it is all they can afford, And that it offers...

    Heating for workshop

I plan to use oil filled rads for my workshop when it's done. I have 2 2kw units, so thats what, 48p per hour? They are thermistatically controlled so arn't even on constantly like cheapy convection heaters. I also plan to use a timer plug to keep a basic backgound temperature.

    London cyclists dropping like flies

Because cyclists have a right to use the road, motorists pay for the privilege. Bringing in legislation to change this simply wouldn't succeed, it certainly isn't sufficiently in the public interest to merit the time and expense of implementing such a thing. Care so much? Start a .gov...

    1) in that case, so should a pedestrian, we should license anyone with legs and mandate insurance for shoes! While we're at it, let's regulate those pesky wheelchair users! You'll find in your scenario the motorist is still at fault for wiping out the bus stop. Brake, THEN swerve, if safe...

I think you'll find I said it hadn't been updated since the SIGNS were put in, imagine some big blue lolly pops with a person and cycle on them, not difficult ... You don't need to stop 99.9% of the time, you ride towards the junction, utilising the ample view you observe nothing coming, you...

    London cyclists dropping like flies

    1) There isn't sufficient need, a cyclist isn't going to flip it through a bus stop killing a dozen people at once. This however is very easy in a car. (a mate of mine has actually flipped a car through a bus stop, despite having passed a test, etc etc. luckily it was 2am and no-one was...

No, you quoted my post, followed by "Freeloader???" Unless your linking it in to.someone else's comment that cyclists using the roads are somehow freeloading. If so, you failed to make that clear.

You didn't bother looking on a map or streetview after your request then? There are 3 infrequently used junctions over the stretch of nearly a mile, all with good view and drop kerbs, no need to stop. It isn't painted red, just designated for shared pedestrian and cycle use. Yes...
