attached, but only by about 1500mm along the length of one wall which has a doorway leading into the kitchen. In that section the rooftop has small pieces of plasterboard attached to cover the gap where the soffits would be with insulation material within. The door is a fire door type but we...

boarding underside of joists in garage

As my garage is rather draughty and there is daylight showing around the facia board areas, I was wondering what I could use to board the underside of the joists in the hope of cutting the draughts out and maybe fit some loft insulation within. Would sterling board be the best option? Thanks

    Painting a varnished shelving unit

I recently covered the shelving unit with zinsser 123 as I was informed it pretty much sticks to anything. I want to paint white satin wood acrylic paint over that but as i have some primer undercoat available, I was wondering whether it might be better to give it a couple of coats of that first...

Thanks for the detailed reply . By all heat exchanger I assume you mean it heats both the water and CH so no need for heat exchanger or diverter valve. The water supply seemsfairlyy high although the hot water does take some time to reach the downstairs taps ( I was told that is to do with...

Getting an Atmos combo boiler serviced

I originally bought the boiler on recommendation as I wanted the best and thought that given it has fewer parts to go wrong, it seemed to make sense.Unfortunately, the downside is that it is nowhere near as popular as it should be and I guess most gas safe installers are only happy fitting and...

Getting an Atmos combo boiler serviced

Hi, it's now almost 6 years old , never had any problems with it and in that time has been serviced twice by the same Gas Safe engineer who installed it.Unfortunately, he lives too far way from me( about 20 miles) to make it worth his while to continue servicing it so my question is should any...

    Re-setting wooden blind

I hung one within a window recess some years ago but unfortunately due to the fact the masonry is rather soft ,the rawls and screws on one side of the blind have come out .I dont suppose a plaster type fillers to do a repair will be of any use so I wondered if anyone can suggest an...

Anyone know of any kitchen manufacturers/ suppliers.....

a future option might be a painted solid pine one as supplied by Pineland but I would be concerned about the possibility of the wood warping .Particle board makes more sense but to my mind only does so if the boards used are of the densest varieties and the screws do the job they are meant to...
