Repointing - Did I do OK?

I made a mess of my first attempt at repointing a few years ago, looked very similar to the OP's pictures. While I'm not keen on painted brickwork, the pointing looked so bad I decided to go ahead and paint it anyway. After it was painted, the pointing looked fine. So maybe this is a...

    Is my bonding wrong?

Hmm, looking at mine, Plastic blue water pipe coming up in kitchen, combination of copper and plastic fittings from this, all copper bonded together with the final piece of copper having 10mm g&y back to the MET. Is this wrong?

    bonding a towel rail

Thinking of getting an electric heated towel rail for the bathroom in a few weeks. All plumbing in bathroom is plastic. Will I have to run an earth wire back to the MET (TN-S) for the towel rail? Currently have access to the landing floor before a carpet is laid, so if so, I'll do it now...

    Insulating a woodern workshop

Thanks Will hopefully be using it for a few hours most days (wife permitting) and will have both my wood turning and my metal working lathes in there.

    Insulating a woodern workshop

I've decided to put 25mm batterns over the existing timbers. The gaps aren't as uneven as the photos imply. Most gaps are identical, except for either side of where I put the double timbers to attach the floor joist bit to. Then I will use 50mm polystyrene sheets giving me a 25mm gap...

    Insulating a woodern workshop

Hi all, I've read a lot of the older posts on here but am as confused as ever :) I built this shed myself (pics at bottom, don't laugh, my first attempt at building one) and want to insulate it as cheaply as possible (wifes going mad as it is, over the amount I've spent). The main thing...

    Outside Cable through conduit

Thanks. The Garage CU is 63Amp with 30mA RCD. Currently on my main CU I have a spare 32amp breaker which is currently on the RCD side of the main CU. Was going to utilize this by moving it to the non RCD side of the main CU. Was hoping that the Garage CU would do all the work so to speak...

    Outside Cable through conduit

I'm in the process of building my workshop from scratch and am nearly finished. I intend running a 6mm cable from the spare 32amp fuse ini my CU to a Garage CU in my workshop, then running a 2.5mm ring round the workshop connected to a 32amp fuse in the garage CU and lights connected to 6amp...

immersion heater controller on unvented system

I've got a 145litre all electric megaflow, also with two emersions. I have the bottom one on a timer that comes on for just 1 hr overnight on economy 7. Only had it installed for a week, but so far this has been ample for providing hot water throughout the day for a family of 4 with hot...

    Earth bonding

Many thanks. I did the 10mm bonding today. Will have to call in a pro for the 16mm as the 10mm was bad enough to control. The earth bonding straps said up to 10mm but was a right pain to do. Did the cable up tight, bent the earth cable to make it run a bit neater and the cable moved in the...

    Earth bonding

Thanks. My bathroom while replumbed, has not had the new basin or shower fitted yet. It would not take a lot for me to replace the copper with plastic in the bathroom. Would this be safer? I know it's a pain having just installed copper, but I'm thinking of saftey here, it will only take...

    Earth bonding

Hi folks. Have replumbed my house and it's just occured to me that I didn't remove any earth bonding when I removed the old plumbing, and totally forgot about installing it with the new. A quick check in the cupboard under the stairs and sure enough the only 3 cables going to the earth block...

    Unvented hot water system regulations

I've done all the plumbing uo to my Megaflow myself. Have a ticketed friend coming round next week to install the megaflow for £100. Having read the installation instructions I have to say I think the whole building regs and not doing diy install is a complete con. I've re-plumbed my...

    Chimney removal (yet again)

Yes we do but I cant see them removing it anytime soon as they only recently had a new kitchen fitted etc with the old fireplace still in place. If they wanted to remove their chimney now (which they don't) I would hapilly take mine out completely. But rather than mess around with gallow...

    Chimney removal (yet again)

Mover into my 1930's terraced house 6 years ago, the previous occupants had removed the chimney stack from the groundfloor (kitchen) but have left it in the 1st floor (bathroom) and attic. I'm thinking about possibly removing it from the bathroom so I could then turn my bath around. The...

Anyone had real life experience of Gledhill Torrent Direct?

Thanks for the reples. In an extremely hard water area. Things are now heading in a different direction. I've found someone I know that's done the course etc, and he's agreed that if I do all the external plumbing, he'll install a megaflow for me for £100 :D Basically He'll connect the...
