    Downpipes - seal/glue offset joints?

    Cut a small section of down pipe and put that in the 112 offset first, then put the pipe in.Drill a small hole and and put a screw in,this will hold it al together.

    Going to put a new sink in but its slightly different in size.I would like to cut worktop from the top with a jig saw,i know this is the wrong way round to cut it .Sure i read you can do it somehow the other way up.?

    Its the old story,do i do it or let the next buyer have the job.Cant you ask the blokes doing the leadwork what the condition of the ridge tiles are? Why not sell the house in the height of summer!

    I have to quote to re-roof 10 garages that have old asbestos sheets on them.I would like to put metal box profile sheets 5.5mtr in length on.The garages are of a pre formed type concrete panel. I'm thinking of fixing some wood beams,say both ends and middle to take the fixing screws.Anybody...

    Lead Bay

    I've done a few of these using leadmate,really go to town with the wire brush.Do both facing sides of the lead with the wire brush,then i put two lines of sealant and dress the lead back down.Clean up the excess lead that might sqeeze out with a rag.

    rad not getting hot enough,thermostat on wrong side ?.

    Yes i took it off and pushed the pin up and down a few times to make sure its not sticking,left it off and its still the same.Could there be a massive air lock? Only when i bleed it no air comes out,and the bottom of this rad is luke warm.

    If the thermostat was fitted to the wrong side of the rad would this effect it getting hot.I've done the bleed bit with boiler off and rads warm.Its a double about 1200w.It does get warm but not what i would expect with the thermo on 6. Can i test it by hand,like the hottest pipe in..

    Stone slate roof.

    Try a small area first with the horse hair mix,dont press it to hard at the battens,wet the back of the slate with water to help it stick.Might be able to use something other than horse hair.
