Now it is fixed how can i make it more efficient ?

thats an idea, but what about the boiler site? it is currently in the kitchen the other end of the house from the bathroom, so the feeds to the indirect coils in the tank would have to run across the house to it? or use an immersion on it ? or site the tank anywhare and add a flow...

Now it is fixed how can i make it more efficient ?

i have thought about doing that. i even considered adding a cylinder to the central heating circuit on this boiler just to get some hot water before it was fixed. but the house has a bit of a weird layout and 2 bathrooms. one upstairs and one downstairs ( granny flat) and both are at...

Now it is fixed how can i make it more efficient ?

yes its big enough. it did at one time have one i believe. there is an old galvanised water tank in the loft with some old iron pipework running to it. all disconnected now but evidence of a different heating / water system at one time. the loft access is very restricted at the moment...

Now it is fixed how can i make it more efficient ?

Yes im in a rural area. the gas supply stops about 5 miles away. and i am about 40 miles from Glasgow. Unfortunatly the house is occupied 24/7 (elderly mother and wife at home) so turning the heating off during the day is not an option :( i have been giving serious consideration to...

Now it is fixed how can i make it more efficient ?

My boiler is now fixed and working, thanks Oilman. but it is an old inefficient model, band d or below i would guess. it has a conventional flue ( cast iron ) that goes up into the chimney in the kitchen. i believe it replaced an old aga type thing about 14 years ago. i have about 50 cm...

Heheheheh it was the part you suggested that fixed it ! got to say though i was a little worried when i saw the tiny ( 4mm ) hole the hot water has to come through in the valve, but it works fine :D its a pity that the local plumbers are not up to your standard, and the local plumbers...

thats the beastie, in fact i think that is the one fitted on it, perhaps it has been changed in the past. i will save the link thanks m8. But it looks like it might be the stat, i have just put my multi meter across it and got open circuit with the heat store both hot and cold. (the heating...

Old Boulter Camray combi problem no hot water heating great?

the store is under a metal cover and insulation layer in with the boiler itself. the outflow pipe that connects to the mixer valve from the store is warm/ hot if the heating has been on or is running. if the heating is not on or has not run reciently then the outflow pipe is cold. when i turn...

Old Boulter Camray combi problem no hot water heating great?

thats what i have. on the mixing valve the hot side of it gets hot, the cold side gets cold and the output is a mix (unsurprisingly) of the two. i did think it could be stuck, but i do get a little hot water from the storage bit before it then runs cold as the burner does not kick in. so...
