    Most likely the inlet valve on the machine is letting a small amount of water in. Shut the water supply off and you should find it stops seeping in, then change the inlet valve on the machine. The brown part of the water softener is the crystals and that is the colour of them leave alone.

    That is a mains suppressor, mains filter, mains smoother it protects the electronics. You have a brush motor not an induction motor so no capacitor. Tumble dryers, dishwashers have capacitor motors. Motor capacitors do fail but I can assure you that is not the case with your machine.

    It's a brush motor, it's a suppressor, it's not a start capacitor. Please don't confuse the OP.

    When the machine is empty of water put it on the drain cycle take the filter out and see if the pump impellor is turning . Selecting spin only on a Bosch does give a one minute approx. pause before the drum starts turning.The PCB is behind the fascia.
