AVI film jerky when played through usb on home cinema

Thanks for the reply. The avi files are compressed to about 6 times smaller than a dvd. The frame rate is the same though. I found a usb stick on the net a few weeks ago that was designed for avi/divx files - a multimedia usb. Can I find it again? No! Oh well, I'll keep searching. It's...

    Adverse possession over registered land

Hi. I bought a house which, in the deeds, used to have adverse possession rights on all my garden, and a bottom section of the garden. This was dated 1990. It was signed etc by a commissioner of oaths, with a drawing showing the land claimed after being used for ten years. Over the years...

AVI film jerky when played through usb on home cinema

Hi. I have a 4gb usb stick which I use to play avi/divx films through my home cinema player and projector. Mostly it's fine, but when fast moving scenes are on it tends to jerk, along with the sound. Are there any other usb devices for playing these files, or some other usb sticks more...

    Insulation into eaves

Not sure what you mean about the gap being left? Looking at the pic it seems a simple enough job to cut the celotex to suit down at the eaves? Also, as you say, 2" celotex would leave you with an airflow, but rockwool would fill the 4" inch truss in and stop the airflow. Forget the rockwool...

    Insulation into eaves

This reply may jog your post a bit so I'll impart my understandings. Down at the eaves, you need an air flow otherwise condensation forms in the loft and rots your roof. This can be overcome by replacing the felt with breathable felt. Problem being you already have a roof, which means major...

    Floating floor on floating floor

Happy New Year to all. My lounge is 6m x 4m. Concrete floor with dpm, then 50mm polystyrene, then floating chipboard flooring with glued-joints . The wife fancies t+g pine flooring on top. Is this possible? If so, would it be floating with glued joints, invisible nailed to the chipboard, or...

    Screwing to floating floor

Hello :D I've laid a boatload of floating floor over polystyrene. I assume one of the reasons behind the idea of the floor floating is for expansion. But. In my kitchen I want to build units from scratch and screw them to the floor. Is this a no no, defeating the object? :? Thanks. John

    Sealing sandstone internally

Hello!! :) Anybody still there? I did a mixture. I've put studs on one wall. I;ve dot and dabbed directly on a couple of walls that won't be seen because of cupboards. I've used pva on some others and then dot and dabbed. 12 months later no problems. I'm a one man band which is why it's...

    Boiler installed in 'dry' room?

Thank you. Cross-bonding not needed as it'll all be run in plastic. :)

    Boiler installed in 'dry' room?

Thank you. Do you mean that the switched fused spur should be outside the enclosure and the en-suite altogether? Not a problem, but would obviously like to know. :)

    Boiler installed in 'dry' room?

I want to have a condensing boiler installed in an en-suite shower and toilet, on an insulated outside wall. There is an extractor fan in the ceiling. I would encase the boiler in a cupboard, with all the clearances specified. Would this constitute a 'dry' room? My understanding is it could...

    Pipe sizes

Hello to all. :) I'm installing new radiators and pipes. Downstairs are all concrete floors. Do I need to run 22mm pipes as near to all rads as I can and then reduce to 15mm? Or, do I run 22mm under the joists and drop down the walls in 15mm? Thank you. :?

    Expanding foam etc etc

Thanks to all for the replies. I can't use any of the methods described because it's a tortuous, confined route the cables and pipes take. If ever I do it again, I'll know about polysterene problems and plan better. Thank you. John :)

    Use of flat roof

Thanks very, very much for all your replies. I've posted questions in many of these forums over the years and always had an excellent response. This is the first question I've posted in this one. Your replies have been the most detailed, concise and patient I've ever had. :D Thanks to all...

    Use of flat roof

Thank you very much for that very clear information. Could you tell me a bit about the privacy screens please? The roof has new joists which are ample size for use as a patio. And, as I said before, what's to stop me from climbing onto the roof with ladders and using it that way? If I...

    Expanding foam etc etc

Thanks for the reply. I've already run the pipes and cables, so conduit is not an option. I suppose I could try and cram the gaps with loft-type insulation. John
