Fitting a toilet to a waste hole

OK thanks for the advice so far, it is a rodding eye I think. Next question then is is it legal and or recommended to fit a loo over it? Thanks again.

Fitting a toilet to a waste hole

Hi, due to the recession I am doing up our workshop while there is no work. We want to add a toilet and do away with one of the urinals. see photos. There used to be another loo here I think as there is a blanked off hole in the floor. The urinals are linked to it so I am worried that it has...

LG RH177 DVD recorder won't recognise discs

Found this link on the net which shows you how to buy a £20 dvd drive and swap parts to make the RH177 work again. http://www.ifndef.altervista.org/index_eng.html I am thinking of trying this. Any comments anyone??

LG RH177 DVD recorder won't recognise discs

After reading some tips elsewhere I took the lid off and took apart the DVD writer, wiped the laser and ran the carriage up and down to free it up. No good though so taking it to be repaired today. If they want a fortune there is no point in doing it. Does anyone know if you can buy spare dvd...

Whats the best way to cut right angles?

Mitre chop saw is the way to go but if you have not used one before be very careful they are not as safe as handsaws. Make sure the workpiece is firmly held down and your hands and loose clothing well out of the way. Also watch out for slithers of offcut flying off at high speed and hitting you...

    How to build cupboards

Hi Katie, sounds like you need to drill screw holes through from the inside to screw those boards on if they are thick enough to house the screws. Otherwise might be better to pin gun them on if you have access to one or mount them onto a board and screw that on from inside. Glue onto melamine...

    Wood worktop????

Real wood worktops can look great, I have made and fitted them but would not have one myself. I love wood but not as a kitchen worksurface in a busy house. If you are a big fan of real wood and have the money and time to look after it then fine but I don't have a problem with laminate tops which...

    "Vertical mitre" on kitchen worktop.

You certainly can mitre the worktop and then biscuit the two parts together. The result will need to be tightly cramped together and then becomes a very awkward item to move around. I would say best avoid this or get someone with a good table saw to do it for you. If it is not done very...

LG RH177 DVD recorder won't recognise discs

Thanks for your comments John ( wow 21,000 posts) funnily enough this is our second dvd recorder and both have been back and forth to the repair shop. I have started using the first one to play dvds as you suggest. That one has other problems ( LG DR4810 ). Trouble is I custom built our TV /...

LG RH177 DVD recorder won't recognise discs

We have a great LG RH177 DVD recorder with timeshift and hard driveand dvd recording. All works fine but now you put DVDs in and it either wont recognize them or you have to keep ejecting them before it decides to play ball. Bought a DVD lens cleaner disc at Currys but this didn't help. Tried...

laminate worktop - water from sink is lifting the laminate

All sounds like good advice, well worth a try to repair it. I always seal the cut chipboard face with paint before fitting the sink unit. This should stop water getting in but then you also need to seal the sink in place to stop water getting in there in the first place. Good luck.

    Air escape from boiler

I added the loosening chemical to our closed central heating system a few weeks ago and am going to flush the whole thing a few times this weekend and add the protection chemical. My daughter's rad was gurgling the other day so I bled it. Strange smell to the air that escaped. Then while...

    Upright Vax carpet cleaner

Took the body apart with a screwdriver and there is a water valve in there which is stuck in the "on" position. I have found one online for £8.99 and will fit it when it arrives. I also ordered some new filters and fluid as I was paying postage anyway.
