    Flexi question

Hello This may be a silly question! I've just fitted an IKEA tap and had to change the copper pipework to meet the Flexi hoses that came with the tap. One has a very slight bend in it, and the other s taught but not stretched. It feels loose when "plucked", but is essentially dead straight -...

    Heat pump dryer not draining

Hi all Can anyone confirm if when you convert a heat pump dryer to drainage via a sink, should the drawer still fill up with water? It's a Bosch heat pump. Been using the drawer for 7 years or so, and recently converted it to use a drain, followed the instructions and have it connected to a...

Shelf to support a washing machine (Ed.)

modern heat pump dryers are as heavy as washing machines - 50-60kg range I've binned the shelf idea for other reasons but thanks all, some interesting discussion! I personally think it's a good idea, raise up the WM, and have storage beneath it, but anyway other ideas...

Viessmann vitodens 200 low modulation low run time high return temp

Hi, @monkeyballs wanted to DM you but your profile is restricted. I'm wondering how you got these graphs showing modulation please? I've a viessmann 111 and want to see what it's doing in terms of return temps and modulation over time. Thanks

    Washing machine waste - 32mm

Thank you all. I've bought a mcalpine wm3 for plumbing two appliances, so i'll attach that. Good thing is, whilst it has a breather, the hole is tiny, so hopefully less chance of it all backing up and leaking, the washing machine would hopefully throw an error before popping the top off.

    Washing machine waste - 32mm

Hello I had the plumbing done in the summer for a washing machine and I want to add a tumble dryer outlet to it, and i've noticed that they've actually done the waste in 32mm and not 40mm to the outside gully. Total run is approx 4.5m from top of upstand. The upstand itself is 40mm, as is the U...

Shelf to support a washing machine (Ed.)

I'm looking to build a shelf to support a heavy washing machine, its 60kg or thereabouts, and and the shelf will be 90cm wide and 90cm deep, supported on brick walls. Will 18mm plywood be sufficient, mounted on top of 2x2 battens screwed into the wall, or should I go for 20mm+? Thanks

    Is this screed? Laying lvt..

It's gonna be a very low traffic area, just a utility room, basically 1.5sqm ish in front of a washer & dryer but I'd rather do it properly enough that it lasts. Not worried about imperfections showing through as there is a single down light in this room and no windows. Screed been down since...

    Is this screed? Laying lvt..

Thanks. It's glue down lvt (polyflor expona). Why do I need a SLC if the glue will stick to the concrete ok (did a test)? Not arguing just trying to learn. Can't afford to raise the height too much either but a 2mm slc should be ok. Should also mention this is a small approx 3sqm utility and 2...

    Is this screed? Laying lvt..

Hi Is this concrete floor in my photo considered "screed" and can I adhesive directly to this for vinyl tiles (LVT)? Thanks

    Optimising my viessmann boiler

Hmm, cold outside today and the flue gas temp is back up to over 55c so I presume no condensing.

    Optimising my viessmann boiler

Yeah, I didn't get any heat loss calc done either, and that included 2 heat geeks firms. One firm in fairness told my i needed max 18kw for the house, but without asking any questions about insulation etc i'm not sure how they arrived at that figure (well, actually, do know, it was a...

    Optimising my viessmann boiler

This looking better I think? Or flow temps too low?

    Optimising my viessmann boiler

I've found how to set my max flow temperature. Its set to 82c which is the factory default. Its a combi (storage) boiler - i'll set it down to 65c as suggested, but i'm wondering why it'd be 82c from the factory if that means it never condenses? Any how, this looks better, but i may still lower...

    Optimising my viessmann boiler

Thank you. Any idea how to change the flow temp to 65c? I've read the manual, think I know how to do it tbh, but the viessmann servers are down at the moment so I can't access vicare. I'll wait till they're back up before changing anything. As an aside they go down a lot "for maintenance". I...

    Optimising my viessmann boiler

Hello Not sure if this is the right place to ask, apologies if not. Had a viessmann boiler installed in the summer and looking at my gas usage it's not using much less than my old non condensing 36kw cast iron 1990s lump. The new boiler is 32kw, so perhaps that's why, and it's not been setup...
