    Plastic push fit on copper

So it's robust enough to take a bit of knocking etc? (Provided it was done properly in first place of course..

    Plastic push fit on copper

Hi all Wondering what folks think of this. Had a new boiler fitted a few months ago, right from the get go I said it had to be all copper. No problem, we only use copper they said. They came and installed and did a good job, and mostly happy with it. Few niggles like having to clean off massive...

Damp concrete floor - next steps?

I have, the vinyl has been up for weeks, that's just a patch to see if the damp spot returns. I've also had a dehumidifier running in there, which has pulled a lot of water (actually more than this little unit ever has, so was pleasantly surprised to see it works!). The adjacent room had a very...

Damp concrete floor - next steps?

So it's expected? I'm surprised, as I thought it had to be bone dry before I can lay a finish on top.

Damp concrete floor - next steps?

Hello Got a small utility room, it has damp patches appearing when the floor is sealed. I plan to put lvt down but I want to address the moisture issue first. Room is on an outside wall, is 2x2m and has a wall mounted boiler, floor standing washing machine, incoming water main, and 2x outgoing...

Water meter - backwards when stopcock off

Thanks, that's sort of what I was thinking too. I forgot to mention I've had a dehumidifier running in there and it's pulling loads of water out. We did have a leak under the shower in the adjacent bathroom but that has all be ripped out and is currently just bare concrete, and dry. It was...

Water meter - backwards when stopcock off

Hello We have a small ground floor utility room (2m x 2m) and its go an old (1990's) solid concrete floor, likely no DPM in place. Noticing odd damp patches, e.g. under vinyl flooring. The room has a lot going on - incoming water main (MDPE) with very recent lever ball valve stop cock...

Recirculating hob - seal MDF or not?

It's a downdraught extractor but I take your point. The Bora are supposed to be the mutts nuts for downdraught extractors so I'm hopeful it'll work. I have secondary extraction in the room planned anyway. Not a hood though, I dislike extractor hoods and find them a bit wheezy generally.

Recirculating hob - seal MDF or not?

Vent front and back, at floor level ? That's what I'm planning to do, double up the 500cm2 basically. Also I was thinking an extractor in the base unit might not be a bad idea, I have power in the island, in fact I may be able to piggy back it off the hob fan. But that's just belt and braces...

Recirculating hob - seal MDF or not?

Thanks. I did email them. The classic is what's shown in your link. I have the M Pure, and it can be placed almost flush against a back panel, provided there is 25mm clearance and 500cm2 at the bottom, that's all that is needed. See photo below. My original photo shows 40mm clearance, and the...

Recirculating hob - seal MDF or not?

Yeah, apparently it's designed for that, but I do know what you mean. I'm concerned about it too. I'll be fitting secondary extraction. I did not like the idea of underfloor ducting as it would congeal fat, same difference I suppose. Bora supposed to be best for recirc extraction so I'm trying...

Recirculating hob - seal MDF or not?

That's exactly it, thank you. Sorry my original post was vague. The hob is basically designed to vent into the voids. I'm making a duct as best I can, but I'm thinking any exposed MDF could be best protected. So an oil based varnish. When you say dilute, not with water presumably? Why dilute...

Recirculating hob - seal MDF or not?

Hello Not sure if this is the right section. In process of having new kitchen with island hob and it's an induction recirculating hob. The picture shows what I'm working with and I'm currently putting some ducting in to direct the airflow to the bottom of the units. It won't be a fully sealed...

    Tundish

Thanks all. I'll consider options. Good spot on the 600mm too, which may prevent what i wanted to do, but i'll measure up. Must get to spec savers. Reluctant to call boiler guys back as they've been superb and honestly its whimsical stuff like this would grind my gears if i was in their shoes...

    Tundish

Hello Had a new boiler installed recently and the Tundish has been put in a place which is not entirely convenient and I'd like to move it somewhere more visible. I know they are to be minimum 500mm from the pressure relief device. Fitters have been superb and I'm sure they'd come back if I...

    Window fabricators

Supplied and fitted, or fitting only? Also is it possible to identify a profile just by looking at it? We paid for rehau in the past and same installer back for a new window and he quoted for Origin and attempted a switch to a different manufacturer without telling us, now wondering if he did...

    vailant Expansion vessell presure?

Thanks again. I've got it on at the moment, is at 2.6bar and the boilers not even working particularly hard. I'll send a photo of the pressure gauge just almost about to tip into the red and see what they say. They've been great so I think they'll be fine adding a new EV, id expect to pay of...

    vailant Expansion vessell presure?

Thanks. Boiler only been in a month so I'd hope the installer set it correctly, they are viessmann installers. I'll speak to them about a 2nd one next time they're here for other work. If I leave it, will a radiator burst or what is the risk? Thanks for the help

    vailant Expansion vessell presure?

Sorry to OP if I hijack but I've a 14 rad system and the cold pressure is 1.4bar and with the heating on it goes to 2.7 bar max, but usually 2.2bar, depends on how much heat demand I think. It's a 111-w boiler and some old rads, 90's stelrads mostly, and one is 3m long but no idea on total...
