what your ment to off done is rub the walls down to get the shine off the silk then the matt will hold alot better you may have a problem with the matt paint cracking as it wont hold very well to the silk. carl

might be to late now but its better to buy a none vinyle paint for a mist coat like a contract matt that has no vinyle in it. get down to you local leyland centre and get your self some johnstone eggshell its realy good and alot cheaper. carl

hello what i would do is go round with oil based undercoat you may need to do this twice but most times once will do the job then just go over that with your emulsion. carl

ye you can caulk the gaps what i would do it get a brown colour tube off caulk it will look better than white caulk. carl

ye 3 days is plenty off time. if its warm in the room it will be dry the next day you painted it.
