    PIRs with built-in CCTV

I've seen that DSC offer a PIR which has a built-in camera - seemed like a good idea! http://cms.dsc.com/download.php?t=1&id=12305 Could the audio+video be wired via the alarm cabling then broken out near the panel? Or could this cause issues with interference? Are there any other...

    R8 system - voice dialer / keypad

Our house has a Veritas R8 fitted, we've never used it but the previous occupants did. It has a voice dialer hooked up to it but no phone line nearby, guess they never bothered to run the extension! Anyway in the days of apps and mobile notifications a voice dialer seems a bit old hat, are...

    Leaking UFH mixer valve

You know I noticed that - they sell a mixer which looks similar but with a different casting(?) the pipes being side by side rather than over and under. Maybe they make a special part for Polypipe. I'm guessing it will be the same mixer control.. And apparently a refurb kit is available for the...

    Leaking UFH mixer valve

On our manifold we have a Polypipe mixer (blending?) valve. At temps below maximum it leaks a small but constant amount of water from the spindle area. The UFH is in screed so shouldn't be at max temp I guess. According to my plumber's stockist the valve is a special order from Polypipe and...

Vaillant integrated controls - worth the upgrade?

ah no missed that sorry. Is hot water still controllable via the VRC470 then? Anti legionella etc?

Vaillant integrated controls - worth the upgrade?

I saw on some previous threads - was that from leaving the VRC470 installed but linking the Evo's boiler relay to the 240v port on the boiler? Is the hot water not controllable if you connect a VR61?

Vaillant integrated controls - worth the upgrade?

I do like the idea of Evohome - as we have temperature and time requirements (rooms used occasionally, some rooms with setback etc). Also we have four different temperature controllers right now and consolidating would make holidays etc less faff. I also like the idea of Vaillant's VRC470 - as...

    30W led floodlight trips MCB

Purchased a 30W PIR LED floodlight from Screwfix this weekend, simple cable swap but it trips the MCB every time it comes on. The lighting circuit is on a B6 breaker. No continuity between any of the wires. The lamp works fine on a different power supply, I haven't tested a higher current MCB...

Vaillant integrated controls - worth the upgrade?

Currently have a ecotec 637 and unistor 310 - rads and towel rails on two CH circuits switched by a Honeywell stat and a UFH circuit with three zones and its own pump, manual mixing valve, Polypipe controller. It's all newish but has been wired up using conventional 240v switching so I guess I...

Weather compensation on a Vaillant UFH & rad setup

Hmm, well I'm willing to put the time in to learn how to use it! :) So multi zoning would be something like Honeywell Evohome? Being able to vary temperatures in different rooms does seem to make more sense than setting one temperature in a common location with TRV's.

Weather compensation on a Vaillant UFH & rad setup

Am considering fitting the Vaillant weather compensator, the logic behind it makes sense to me but not sure if we have the right setup for it to work properly. Existing system is: 637 Plus system boiler UniStor cylinder Zone 1 - Radiators (upstairs & downstairs) with Honeywell room stat Zone 2...
