    shredding

I've still got my 1st payslip from 1983, £45 a week as a trainee Screen Print Technician, they refused to send me to college as other lads they'd employed let them down by not turning up - I decided if they couldn't trust me I didn't want to work there, they offered a payrise to stay but not the...

    danesmoor oil boiler

could be a number of reasons, no oil, blocked filters, solenoid coil faulty, pump coupling worn, pump faulty, motor faulty, photocell faulty or control box faulty. Does it start up again once you press the reset button? Is it noisy etc... Your query as it stands is a little vague...

    Sterling Electro Oil Burner

    - unlikely, the high limit stat will shut the boiler off not lock out the burner. I'm still leaning towards the pump seizing, but could also be the photocell with an intermittent fault. Might be time to call someone in...

    Sterling Electro Oil Burner

I would start with the solenoid coil as Burnerman suggests. Does the burner fire up immediately after lock out or does it need to cool down first? or does it buzz like it did before capacitor change?

    wallstar hrm restart

I'd let him stick with it in that case, hopefully my post has given you an idea of what his position is. I've just recently had a similar problem which turned out to be a faulty oil pump and photocell.

    Sterling Electro Oil Burner

When you took the motor off did you check the oil pump spindle? If it moves freely the fine, if it feels like it has resistance in it then it's likely to be knacked. Was there a rusty dust in the motor ? Bearings could be worn. It's the microfarads you should be looking at usually 4uf. If...

    wallstar hrm restart

This is the boiler that had not been serviced for 6 years and had pre existing problems not firing up on both ch and hw. If you're now having to press the lock out button to restart the boiler once it's up to temp then it's likely to point to a number of causes, my 1st stop would be the...

    Danesmoor 20/25 control box problem

Look at the wiring for the photocell, I think it's terminals 7 & 9 that have to be rewired (take the whole screw out and move the silver terminal over then screw in again) - don't hold me to the numbers (I change over to satronic to save carrying various boxes so I can't nip out and check this)...

    Trianco Oil Fired Boiler

Doesn't sound like you've had a great time of it...you've paid out for pump, motor and control box (could nearly have got a new burner for similar money) - is the guy you've had out an oilman or a plumber that "does" oil, I've followed on after a few of these types who can happily clean a boiler...

Hi Paula, any luck on identifing parts or getting someone in? Must be getting chilly by now

    Trianco Oil Fired Boiler

It's quite common for the photocell to cause the boiler to run without locking out or firing up (I just stick a new one on to test whether it's this or the control box) - I don't fault find to component level, I guess it holds a relay open in the control box. What control box is it...

    Trianco Oil Fired Boiler

Only thing I can suggest, bar getting someone out, is to check connections on photocell at the control box, check photocell with a meter and a torch and make sure photocell is clean and facing towards the flame with no obstructions.

    Trianco Oil Fired Boiler

Hi Handychick If the burner is running on and on with no lock out it's likely to be the control box (could also be photocell) - has any water dripped onto this? Most oil fellas will carry this kit with them so easy to test and replace. I can't picture this boiler (unless it's the one where...

    oil burner stopping intermittently

Had one of these earlier this week with same symptoms, thought coil (although I've only changed one Riello coil in the last 2 years) - turned out to be a control box fault intermittently allowing coil to energise...

    Underground oil pipe connections

HIB - It might be that being this time of the year we're all out busily fixing boilers and can't be arsed to log in to forums like this when we get home... You don't put joints underground without having access to inspect them (water, oil, telecoms, electric...) - no point referring you to the...

    trianco tro 15/19 boiler

Hi steve You'll need to identify the burner on the boiler 1st to work out what capacitor you need. Then try HPS or Abgo for online supplies.

    Evesham Alquemi TV repair

Hi Does anyone know of a TV repairer around South Manchester who'll attempt a fix on the above set? Standby light comes on but that's about it. I called a local firm but they said they couldn't get the parts for them. It's been stored for over a year but I figure if I can't get it fixed I...

    Oil boiler - service plan

If you get oil from Emo.CPL etc... they have a service contract you can sign up to where you pay for the annual service then get a discounted rate on any callouts you need. I know the fella that covers Lancs so you'd be in good hands.

    Boosting Virgin Media signal

You should've told them to grab their red noses, pick up their bucket of tinsel and leave or escalated the issue there and then to get it resolved. Ask for a more senior technician to sort it out. The Network is planned to provide a given signal to a % of houses it supplies so there may or may...
