    virgin or sky?

There are more HD channels on Sky although Virgin are getting more added (don't know when) - I've had both on the same TV and Sky looked better quality

    Boosting Virgin Media signal

Why did they connect it in the opposite corner to the TV ? If it's a recent install ask them to come back and move/extend it. The install will have been planned to get the signal to your house and won't take into account the up and over cable with the additional connections (each introducing a...

    Grant Euroflame 90-120 not firing

Boilerman2's advice is sound I'd suggest in this instance your Oftec guy may need more experience

    Removing Ram on Riello Burner

The new pumps do have a port for the ram you need to undo a nut to access it and "tease" the ram pipe into position. I usually replace the seals on the short rams which only cost a couple of pounds just to keep the burner as the designer intended. See plenty that have had the ram removed and...

    oil burner restart

Best thing is to tell him of the problems before he starts, there's nothing worse than turning up for service with a number of other jobs planned out to be told as you're finishing up "I've been having this problem but thought the service would fix it" - it needs to be fixed then serviced.

How to re-prime Worcester Danesmoor 20/25 oil system?

Just double check the flexi hoses are the right way around when you connect up or you'll get a frothy tiger loop and no "flame on" - as I said previously you can cheat the photocell with a torch to keep the pump going until the tiger loop is primed. I'm led to believe that the Danfoss pumps...

How to re-prime Worcester Danesmoor 20/25 oil system?

Recheck your new joints (and any joints you've disturbed) fitting the new oil line, just give 'em a nip up and try to run the burner 4 or 5 times. You can cheat the photocell with a torch to prevent it going to lock out (but don't overdo it)...

    Boulter oil boiler not firing

It's likely to be a problem with the ignition (IMO) I'd be looking at the spark generator

    Boulter oil boiler not firing

Hi Matt Possibly dirty electrodes as a starting point, but it could be a number of things (sorry to be vague but it's tricky when not sat in front of it). The hot/cold question was to determine whether the solenoid coil could be the likely suspect. Have you had it lock out when you're trying...

    Boulter oil boiler not firing

Does the boiler get hot and then not keep going, or is it from cold that the problem starts?

    Manual for BT301C "Mole"

Yeah I hate going back to the van to get anything but don't like being weighed down like a pack mule either... It's one of those things if you do it day in day out you get used to the different noises. I didn't do much datacoms stuff only telecoms so no option but to get used to it!! My...

    Manual for BT301C "Mole"

Just looked them up on ebay :) It's not something I've used - reads as a multimeter/mega/TDR all in one I prefer my kit as separate entities so I've got some back up if one bit goes wrong. I'd hope it's a good bit of kit at the prices asked!! I've got a bit of kit made by Ziad that was a...

    Manual for BT301C "Mole"

They are a great bit of kit particularity if you're dealing with faults on long/awkward access runs, a 9083 and a tone tracer will get you through most faults but the TDR pinpoints the problem. I've used it on coax too works just as well.

    Manual for BT301C "Mole"

No worries, I had a feeling I'd seen it somewhere as I used to use jmw a bit when I was in telecoms. The BT test stuff used to be rebadged (good quality) kit (probably still is I'm a long time out of BT) have a look at the davy lamps on ebay that have BT or GPO on them. Actually seeing your...
