I thought geofabric is good practice under driveways?

Creating access under UFH, set in screed.

Don't think I'd attempt this and would settle for boxed in pipework. Got pictures of the UFH pipes before screed?

    Do I have a DPM?

Same issue here so watching this! Built in 1961, marley tiles on bitumen adhesive in most of house. Places where there aren't tiles seem nice and dry.

Laying slab base on really muddy, clay soil

I've not had experience of trying to get a slab down in waterlogged ground so can't really offer much. Maybe groundscrews?

    Time to upgrade drill

The third party ni-mh batteries for my dewalt drill have all become pretty rubbish within months tbh. I've just replaced with new dewalt li-ion. Got an adpater for my old drill to keep it going, works okay but it look strange. Much prefer 2ah on drill and impact.

    Cavity insulation

I doubt it. It's designed and installed so water runs down through it, so I wouldn't mess with it.

    Universal column or universal Beam

Goodness! What size are the timbers out of interest?

    Patio nightmare, professional opinions please

Riven sandstone is generally specified 1:60 or 1:80 fall. So 60mm over 4m is closer to 1:60 which is fine though noticeable. Plastic DPM under a patio, what was he thinking! The job is dreadful, it needs pulling up :( While it's encouraged to let the person fix it in the first instance. I...

    Cavity insulation

Yes, you're correct. The size is the cavity width.

Laying slab base on really muddy, clay soil

Tell me about it! We dug out about 35 tonnes for our patio and retaining walls. Barrowed to the front up a tricky slope.

Laying slab base on really muddy, clay soil

We just scraped the soft mud off the top of ours too. Dried out pretty quick in the sun anyway.

    Patio slabs problem

What a shame! That looks like some of the poorest paving workmanship I've seen :( Whole lot needs to come up I'm afraid IMHO, and be done properly. Should have used a slurry primer on the back of the stones and be fully bedded. Joint spacing is terrible and paving doesn't even look flat...

    Drain pointing cement tone

Our local plastering sand (fine sharp sand) with ordinary grey portland cement dries to a closer colour than that. Id make a few test mixes up of various sands you can get.

    Which Filler? MDF Skirting Boards

2 part filler else it may well fall out. Car body filler is fine.

Laying slab base on really muddy, clay soil

Non woven. We used drivetex for a similar project as we already had it. It's really strong stuff. We dug to 150mm and put in 100mm mot type 1.

    Plastering Sand for laying slabs?

Plastering sand is a fine sharp sand. I'd use it if I already had it. Sharp sand seems to be preferred though it's common to add some soft sand.

The best tool for drain pointing?

Though you can brush finish concrete, and pointing is brushed over too.

    Should DPC be visable

Mines been pointed over in places. Nothing bad happened.
