Sorry, yes it does have an overhead supply, and I have an old photo from (presumeably) the 70's which shows the wires entering the structure at either ends of it, but know they both go in one end. Has this old guy done an illegal bodgit (assuming he moved them)

May be thats why one 100a fuse is painted white and only has a single brown wire connecting it. Maybe the old boy did it himself. I know he was an electrician but thought only the guys from the board were allowed to touch stuff pre meter.

Your quierying of what I called two mains could be due to the fact that the house used to be two seperate properies. Sometime in the seventies (we think) it was knocked into onne, could it be possible that one was kept despite not neing needed and is this anything to do with it? I still can't...

    Kitchen Lighting

Hi there, I was trying to chose a new light fitting for our kitchen and went to my trusty screwfix catalogue. They only really show the Zones diagram for the Bathroom and what lights can go where, and only one of the products mentions suitability for the kitch. Is This because there are less...

Ok so I think I have confused the DP Isolator Switch with a trip switch. My set up is thus, 2 Mains comes into the house into 2 100A fuses then onto the meter. The tails then come fromthe meter to the 80Amp Residual Current Ciruit Destroyer (trip switch) with its test button, then onto the CU...

    Earth Tripping

Sorry, when I meant trip switch I meant the 80Amp RCD that is between the meter and the CU. RCD on CU off, and individual MCB off, negative touches earth and the aformentioned 80amp RCD trips despite neither CU or circuit being live. Thanks

Hi there, I was replacing a broken 2g socket when the trip switch went even though the circuit MCB and the CU RCD were both turned off. I found out it was because the negative wire earthed itself on the knock out box. I've tried to find out why on tinternet but can find no answers. Wny is it...
